View Full Version : copy of News module wont show in right column -
I made a copy of the News module to show threads from another forum.
It shows ok in the left and centre columns but wont show in the right column.
The original News module works ok in all three columns.
Does anyone know how to get the 'copy' of the News module to show in the right column?

Try upgrading to the latest version of the CMPS and see if that helps.
I am using 3.0 RC2 downloaded on the 26th September on a fresh install of vBulletin 3.6.8. I’m moving hosts so am setting up at the new location with the latest versions of everything.
I have discovered that now the News Archive module doesn’t show in any of the columns but if I switch it off in the admincp everything displays as it should. I made a copy of the News archive (to go with the copy of News module) and it causes the same problems.
Does that tell you anything?
Ok the News archive module didn’t show at all because I didn’t have enough threads in the News forum.
The problem however, is still that as soon as I enable the News Archive module (in any column) the 'copy' of the News module disappears. When I remove it again the 'copy' of the News module re-appears??

Do you have anything set for the 'Module Parent' setting for either of your news modules (not including the archive)? If so, set that to blank.
There is no parent module set for either module. (The only option for no parent is 'None').

I'm not sure what else could cause a problem like that then, but if you'd like to submit a support ticket via the Members' Area here I'll be glad to take a look at things for you.
Ok Brian, I submitted a support ticket about this a couple of days ago. Have you managed to look at it yet?

For the record, I cannot get this to work either. I take ANY news module that is displaying fine in the center column on any of my pages and try to move it to the right column and it will not display.
vBadvanced CMPS v3.0 RC2
Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.6.8
EDIT
Just to clarify. I made COPIES of the news module and they will not display. Strangely if I move my original news module to the right column, it displays fine.
EDIT2
Now things are getting really interesting. I took the original NEWS module and copied it to the right column. It displays fine. I made a copy of IT and have it displaying in the right column, and it displays fine. There are now 3 modules in the right column - new news, old news, and news archive. (you can see the site under construction at www.ocblast.com)
BUT if I re-order the two news modules via changing their rank in vBa CMPS the newer of the two disappears. I reorder them back the way I had them originally and the new one reappears.
AND here is another "quirk". If I start with both news modules displaying as above, and then move the news archive to the center column, the top news module disappears. If I return the news archive to the right column, the top news module reappears. When I move the archive to the center column, the news module that remains changes format slightly as if displaying the option "separate news posts = no". When I return the news archive to the right column and both news modules reappear, the news module reverts to the default formating of "separate news posts = yes". (Both news modules have separate news posts = yes set as an option).
There appears to be some bugginess somewhere...
