Because the front page only contains the last few new message threads I rely upon the "New Posts" link but because the sub-forums for the three different products are all named the same thing I never really know where I'm ending up when looking at the thread.

If not changing the forum names or the output template how about a combined page so that all of the threads for one product can be displayed at a time (like the "old layout" option over at vb.org)?
