Hi
I have recently installed CMPS and can't say enough good things about it.
I have a need to have a directory's access controlled by vBulletin's. Will Link Directory do this for me? Or, you know of a hack?
Please say yes? (on my knees, hands clasped, begging)

What exactly do you mean by "access controlled by vBulletin's"? There are options to set which usergroups can view, add links, post replies, and etc if that's what you're asking.

Hi Brian,
I have a member's only area that I use .htaccess to control who get access to that directory (I put files in there, pdfs., flash goodies). Only certain usergroups have access, through subscription, to that area. I use another script that controls their access to that directory.
However, it is a big maintenance chore verifying vBulletin registration before granting access. I'd like to automate the whole thing so it is closely integrated with vBulletin. So, only way a person gets in is if they have an active membership subscription, controlled, of course, through vBulletin's subscription function.
Hope I made sense.

So you're basically wanting to add links to these files through the links directory, have them all sorted in there, and restrict access to the links directory to only a certain usergroup(s)? If so, then yes, the links directory will work for that. :)

Hi Brian,
GREAT!
Question... If a person knows the link info (I'm assuming http://www.my_domain.com/?=somepage.php), but they do NOT belong to the usergroup that's allowed to view that page does link directory stop them, if they try to link to it that way?

I would assume they would get an error page stating they dont have permission to view said page. Just like they would if they were trying to view a restricted forum.

As mholtum said, they will get an error if they do not have permission to view the links directory.
