Download CPMS 3.0 this morning and got it installed. Now for a couple of questions.

Is it possible to create categories, then allow members to add content to the defined categories?

I want these articles to be totally separate from the forums. People accessing my site should be able to go to the forums for the chit-chat stuff, but go to the vbadvanced CMPS page for the real articles.

What I am looking to do is have a list of categories in the left column - such as hiking & camping, hunting, gear reviews........

Members should be able submit articles to the categories. I will then proof read the articles, and then allow them to to posted.

The home page should have the last X number of articles on it. Then click the category to read everything that has been posted in that section. An example of this is Joomla - http://www.joomla.org

I had a joomla site for about 6 months, but finally gave up on free software.

Before I posted this question, I did search for "categories" and found this:

The CMPS is really more of a portal for your forums, and does not include options like adding categories and such. You could still do something similar with the CMPS, but your forums would have to be tied in with things and the articles pulled from there.
From your post, it sounds like vBa Dynamics might be the better choice for you. It's geared more towards posting articles, and they are completely separate from your forums. It does include the ability to add new categories and such, again, all completely separate from your forum as well.
