There were 6 members who requested for a points system hack.

Can we put together $$ together and hire someone good in points system & dyna to get this mod done.

I will pay $200

I would pay, but I would need to know in detail what I am paying for. Can you list features you were hoping to see?

I would pay too but we need support when thing is update. Why we do not ask the coder who wrote point system for this?

I would like any reputed points system (vbplaza, vbcredits etc) integrated so that it works the same way it's being used in vb forums.

Brian is trying to do his best here at dyna but a single resource would have to concentrate on his priorities. CMPS seems to become the the industry standard with 60-70+ members constantly vieiwing & helping each other on the forums while Dyna getting viewed by 1-2 people and members waiting for Brian time.

With new GARS release this week, I am already seeing some of our passionate dyna members jumping there.

I agree with you on this point.
I love vba cmps, vba links, vba photopost but I am a little disoppointed with dynamics. The reason is the lack of docummentation and there are still some "bug" (see my other thread). There are afew people looking at dynamics because it is locked. Just members who bough it can see it. I have just bought it with multiple instance option but I intend to sell it now. It is a headache to me!

There are some old hacks on VB.org written for vb2.0 that tells how to add points
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32060

Basically, it tells add a field on user database
then cut paste text into newthread.php & newreply.php

Should it work if we hadd to newentry.php???

I can try to offer some of my time/knowledge to help, but the big question is which points system on which version of vBulletin?

It seems like with each new version of vB that the number of different points systems drops.

Kevin,

Thank you very much for the offer to help.
1) The version of VBulletin shouldn't matter as we will only be using "table" from the database. point systems so far seem to work fine 3.6 and 3.7.
Would prefer 3.7 beta 3 as this is the latest.

2) vbbux/vbplaza seem to the best option for points system but I am open for any vbcredits, icash or any points system.
Owners of vbplaza and vbcredits are willing to help but say don't have access to vba dyna code.

3) This should be integrated to latest version of dyna.

Bottomline, I will be even be happy with a simple points tool to start..If a user adds an entry , user gets xx points and for reply gets xx points (nothing more).

Integrating vbux/vbplaza or some robust points system would be dream come true.

Once again, thank you for the offer to help... the users are eager and willing to pay for the enhancements.

When I get home tonight I'll search vB.org for the current versions of vBBux and vBPlaza. I have a semi-live vB 3.7.x site that I've been using for testing so I'll install them there to see what I get.

New toy to play with. "Oooohhh, something shiny!"

I have an extra copy of vbbux/vbplaza only to be used only on the localhost if you want.

Thanks -

Thanks -I may have to take you up on that since I see that the old Lite version at vB.org is no longer available. To be blunt, that kinda' sucks since it makes it harder for people to work on modifications to just do something as adding points to the vBBux system. Compounding the problem it looks like the 'full' version is encoded so it can't even be used for reference. Not exactly 3rd-party developer friendly.

Vbcredits is a free version which can be downloaded from vb.org

If you want to install vbplaza on local host, PM me your email address.

Thanks -

If it's articles or reviews you plan on using the software for, maybe Gars is a better option. However, I'm not sold on the idea that using the same Vbulletin database is a good idea. I need to be able to manage my forum for years or decades, and if every addon and hack I use alters the VB tables I'm going to end up with a mess. Beyond Articles or Reviews, dynamics is a much more configurable product that could be used for just about anything.

However, I do wish Brian would follow GARS lead in layout - the reviews pages look really great.

Reddyink, is there a points system you prefer? I'm using VBcredits and it's not working like I would have hoped.

I agree, vbcredits is still buggy but lot of effort being made to make it very robust. Best points system today is vbbux/vbplaza but costs $50.

can you please tell my why using a industry strandard tables is not a good idea. There are literally 2000 mods written on that format to enhance the standard VB and a powerful mod comes up every day. I am a strong believer that "none of us are smarter than all of us"

I'm referring to mods that update the table structure of the Vbulletin database. I'm assuming GARS does this.

So, on the topic of points systems...

Is iBank/iCash the only system that is available for free (as opposed to a 'lite' version with a paid 'pro' version) and is viewable source?

Kevin,

VbCredits is free!

Petz is another one but VbCredits much better!

Kevin,

Did you get a chance to look at how to creat this mod? Any initial thoughts?

Thanks -
