Hi,
I run the forum with the native language different from english. This means that forum names and topics could be written in non-ascii characters (UTF-8). Generally vbDynamics handles this very well.
The only place where I have an issue is enabling built-in SEO engine. When enabled, it tries to generate URLs as usual and simply ignores non-ascii characters. So I and up with URLs like www.example.com/dyna/------1/.
This does not look good and does not work good either.
VBSEO had similar issues in the past but to work around they have introduced char translation rules... There's an option in VBSEO admin panel:-
Replace Non-English Characters in URLs?
Select 'Yes' to replace non-English characters with their English equivalent. Enable this option if your forums are not in English or if any non-English characters occur in your forums (E.g. Café)
Can we have something similar introduced in vbDymanics too?..
Currently I'm forced to disable built-in SEO engine and have vbSEO rewriting dyna URLs into something like dyna/entry-1.html - this works well, but not the ideal from SEO point of view...
Any thoughts or comments?.. Can we have this in the next release?.. ;)
Thanks!
