calendar attachment

Is there a way to add an attachment to a new event on the calendar? I have events and currently they are in word documents and sent via email - would like to place these events onto the calendar with the attached word document and when a person looks on the calendar for events - for today - they would be able to click on the event and view the word document. Can this or has this been done?

On this new thread I am making I can manage attachments - I would like that same feature to be put on the add new events page to add an attachment.
