I'm completely new to this, and do not code. I cannot figure out where to put this:

"After adding new locations, you must edit your 'adv_portal' template through your vBulletin Style Manager to add the variable '$home[Varnameblocks]' within the code where you would like that location to be displayed."

I have no idea where that line goes. I tried putting it in the "body" section of my style manager, but nothing happened. I need a walk through for complete newbies, if one is available.

Thanks!

Did you change "Varname" in the code you added to whatever you used for the 'Varname' for your custom location? Did you edit the page you were looking at to move some modules into that location?

Brian, Thanks for finally responding. I did get it to wrap around my forum page, sort of. The biggest problem I'm having is that instructions are vague and assume some working knowledge for where the coding goes, even within the help forums. There needs to be a complete "dummies" guide or walkthrough for the basics aimed at total first-timers like myself. Things such as "within the code where you would like that location to be displayed." How would I even know how to identify that location. I'm amazed that no one has come up with a more user-friendly WYSWYG-type of interface for vbulletin and its add-ons like most web-design programs have now. Most people have no desire to code, they just want a working forum with some extras.

Well, there's only going to be a certain level of customization you're going to be able to do with any web site or software if you want to run a web site without taking the time to learn HTML.

I won't go into that as there are a number of WYSIWYG programsa that allow an amazing level of customization for web design. Most people don't want to build it from the ground up, they just want to modify it a little to suit their tastes. My goal is to get my site running with the features I want, and then have it customized later when I have more resources.

Anyway, my main issue is that there are no beginners tutorials as to where thngs are in vbulletin, vbadvanced, and other add-ons. It is generally assumed that the users already know these things. Even if I knew how to code HTML, I would not know how to find the navigation of the back-end in vbulletin and vbadvanced. I'm a smart guy, and can figure out almost anything, given the proper resources, but this has got me flummoxed. (BTW- I have learned Windows - all versions from 3.1 up, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Dreamweaver, Flash, and a host of other programs just from a book and some online assistance.) That's why I'm so perplexed with this. Sorry for the rant.

Anyway, my initial problem is solved. Now I just have to learn how to add the customization I desire, which I fully intend to learn how to do, through these and vbulletin's forums. Thanks!
