USERGROUP ID permissions question

Does the user group permission section for each vbAdvanced page apply to only the primary user group or also the secondary user group, too?

That is, if I have a user who is REGISTERED as primary and CONTRIBUTOR as secondary group, if I check only the CONTRIBUTOR box on a vbAdvanced permission page, will he be able to access the page or not?
