View Full Version : vBa Links or Dynamics?

I did a search, and only came up with two threads, and they were for previous versions of vBa Links.

My question is, I'd like SOMETHING to use for a banner ads listing service, and I'm not sure if I should renew my vBa Links or if I should use vBa Dynamics.

What I need is a link system that allows my users to place banner ads in two separate sections, and both will be styled a little different. One will have clickable (and countable clicks) banners that the user either links to or uploads, and I need it to be the 468x60 format, and the other will have links with pics that are like 100x100 thumbnails, but full-sized pics when you show the full listing.

All of them need to be moderated, and I'd REALLY like to add a sort of a bank system, and the users would be able to "withdraw" from that to post links.

First, would that mean I'd need two vBa Dynamics or vBa Links?

Second, which one would be the easier one to hack to achieve what I'd like?

Thanks for looking! :)

vBa Links will not allow image uploads by default. I believe there's a hack for this posted in the forums, but I'm not sure how well it would meet your needs.

vBa Dynamics does allow attachment uploads, though I'm not sure how well the default version would work for you... You can certainly upload banners and other images, have them resized, and keep track of the number of times an attachment is clicked. The banner would also be resized the same as the rest of the images though if they're the same extension. Now if the banner is going to always be a different extension from the rest of your images, then you could just set that extension not to be resized. I'm not sure if you specifically need for the banner to be linked to another site, but that's something that would have to be hacked in if so.

If just adding the ability to upload images would be enough for vBa Links to do the job, then that would likely be the way to go. vBa Dynamics does include more options with attachments and more flexibility with displaying them though, so it could be the better solution depending on your exact needs.

Thank you for your fast reply, Brian. :)

I'll see what I can do with Links for now, then. I need to buy a second license.

Each link will be moderated, so resizing isn't much of an issue. If users upload the wrong format pics, I'll just have them give the correct ones. :)

Thanks again! :)
