Intergrating in joomla

Is the anyway of intergrating with joomla to show some of the data in the joomla front page?

I've never really used Joomla, so unfortunately I'm not sure what integrating the two would involve.

If you know how to create a joomla module it's simply a matter of reading the data from database and displaying it. Looks at the joomla 'hello world' module as a guide on how to create a module.
