View Full Version : My News Module simply will not display?

I'm hoping someone can help me with this...
I can't get my news module to appear/display. All of my other modules display perfectly - though the new module will not?
Under my News options section in 'News Forums' - it reads:
"This setting has been customised in the following pages:"
Then there is a drop down box directly below this that has: "1 Pages(s)" in it.
Then under that it reads: "This setting has previously had a custom value set for it in the page(s) listed above. Etc..."
I can change this setting to the other option in the drop down (which is "Homepage") and save the file... though when I go back in, the setting has reverted to "page(s).
Appreciate any help... thanks in advance!

At least I can take comfort in knowing it's not just me ;)
Let's hope someone can help us resolve this.

Check your settings for that module and be sure that "Clean file output" is set to OFF.

Thanks for the tip...
Checked that... and it is set to off.
I still can't get the setting I mentioned in my opening post to change from "1 Page(s)" to "Homepage"?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance...

I remember having that issue a long time back, I think I cleared it by using the "Use Default" option seen on the top right next to the list of News Forums.

I appreciate that I sound a little slow... but I cannot see a "Use Default" option?
The weird thing is... if I go into the next level and set the module to show a specific thread, it works - though with no 'News' header.
Thanks for your help with this!

Take a look at this screenshot.
ACP > CMPS > Edit pages> Advanced Options > News Module

Thanks SO much for your help! That worked... I now have the NEWS module showing on the index page :)
Weird thing is that there is no 'header' for the module (eg: NEWS) as there is with the other modules (eg: Site Navigation, etc). Any thoughts?
Thanks again!

Check that the module is edited for the style you are using.
ACP > CMPS > Edit Modules > News > Edit in this style > style xxx > if box in style manager is empty the module need editing for that style.

Also make sure the 'Use Module Wrapper Template' setting is enabled for that module.

Wierd thing is... when I click on 'preview'... it works perfectly and the "News" box is displayed...
I know I sound like a blind person... but I honestly cannot find "Edit in this style"?
I did find "Use module wrapper template" and it is enabled...

Now that my NEWS module is live on my index page... can I ask how I get my NEW ARCHIVE to display?
Thanks for the help/support to date!

Just make sure the module is enabled on that page and that you've changed the settings to set the number of archived news posts to display.

Hi Brian
Yes I have enabled the module and left the settings at 5 (posts to display).
It's just strange that I am having the same thing occur with my custom module... I can see it when I click on the 'preview' button... but it does not display on the 'homepage'?
Thanks for your help!
PS: Dropped you a quick PM also.

Check the settings for the module again and make sure that the 'Parent Module' option is set to your news module. If that's still not it, please submit a support ticket via the Members' Area here and I'll take a look at things for you.

Thanks
