i used png files for a new set of smilies and post icons and they work great with vb, but vbadvanced is not showing them on the portal homepage. does anyone know how to fix this or can i just not use png files?

an addition to my post...

in FireFox i see nothing, in IE i see broken images where the png's should be, but it's only in the CMPS... the png's show perfectly in the regular vbulletin forum. i followed some instructions from other posts and got the post icons to show, but the smilies now only show broken images and then the full path of the images. check: http://invertedweb.com/portal.php

you can see the "Inverted Smilies" news module shows my problem.

ok, ::update::, adding the full path to the post icons fixed the problem, and the post icons work fine, but adding the full path in the smilies caused both vb and vbadvanced to show the html text for the images. removing the full path makes the smilies work in vb, but still not in vbadvanced.

sorry if this was posted somewhere else, but i'm having trouble finding any help, i've been searching the forums for hours now.

Adding the full path, if added correctly, wouldn't cause the icons to break (it would cause them to work properly). Double check the URL you used because there has to be a mistake in it.

eh, not really. the URL was fine, and it was the same thing i used for the post icons. i mean, i didn't even retype it, i just copied it once and pasted it for all, and it works for the post icons, but not in vbadvanced for the smilies. it shows a broken image, then after it it shows the image path, but without the http:// (and that is in the admin panel for each smilie.)

i dunno. i tried everything for this.

oh GOD! this is one story that must be told, hahahahahaha:

i made the Text to Replace for my confused smilie ":/" (without the quotes, of course) following the style on yahoo messenger, and that just blew the whole thing. when i put ANY smilies in the post it changed the full path of the smilie "http://" into "http(confused smilie)/" so the image broke. i APOLOGIZE for ever thinking this was a vbadvanced issue, haha, it's just a matter of my own labelling. i was able to change the Text to Replace to ":-/" and now everythign works.

interesting, huh???

well, thanks for the help brian.

LOL! Believe me, I've had much worse happen to me. There are still a couple of issues I've had that there is no logical explination for. ;)
