You had to have removed the changes you made for the CMPS if the group was there and then disappeared. Just re-apply the changes to your admincp/index.php file.

The instructions are in the readme file. Those settings could not have been removed if you didn't remove them yourself, or possibly you didn't have the right copy of the file on your computer.
Open the readme file, go to the file changes section, and re-apply the changes to your admincp/index.php file as instructed in the readme.

all i done was install vb 3.03 and cmps and it went great, the only alteration i made was the ones for the cmps, then i made all the code mods to rc3 and installed that, when i done that it went ok. i logged into the admincp and cmps was gone? the links dir was there? i followed the rc3 readme perfect? the rc3 is also not showing up in on my site on the forum or the cmps homepage?

As I said, open the CMPS readme file, go to the file changes section, and re-apply the changes listed there for your /forum/admincp/index.php file and that will add your options back.
As for the links directory not showing up, if you go to http://yoursite.com/links (or to whereever you installed the program) then you will see the links directory. You still have to add a link so that your visitors will be able to get to the links directory yourself.

Did you do Step 1 in the installation instructions?
Step 1 - Admin CP Modifications
Go to your Style Manager under "Styles & Templates" in your Admin CP. Choose to modify All Style Options. On this page, you will see a section for "Image Paths". Here you must change the path for each image directory (Title Image, Button Images Folder, Miscellaneous Images Folder, etc) to the full path (ex - /forum/images or http://yoursite.com/forum/images).
You must do this for each of your styles, otherwise your images will not show up!

You must not have modified the correct style or something as they're still showing the same path. If you entered the full URL as instructed then they would work.

Taken from the install file:
Go to your Style Manager under 'Styles & Templates' in your Admin CP.
As for the link, you have to add that in the navbar (or wherever you would like it) yourself.

Check the hacks forum.
You also need to update your license information with the correct URL.
