Sitename: PaintBaller.ie - The Home of Paintball in Ireland

URL: http://www.paintballer.ie

Description:
PaintBaller.ie is Ireland only dedicated paintball website. It is much more than a website and webforum, but for its members it is a way of life. Up until March 2009, it was phpbb based with a content management system, but not it is rolling with vbulletin, vbadvanced and vbseo.

It is a very close night community, those that are registered yet we get large amounts of visitors who come for the quality content / articles and some stay for the community. We use flash chat4 for our evening chats for who ever is online.

We organise monthly paintball outings where the board members all get to meet up in person and shoot each other , which is uncommon for a internet forum.

Some of the hacks installed are:
Front page slide show
Automatic Thread Tagger
Cyb Chatbox
Cyb Auto Reply
Cyb Flash Banner Rotator
Double Post prevention
Display new posts and rep comments
Selective forum filter
Vbseo
VBPic Gallery
AME Media Embedder
Flastchat
VB Blogs
Subforum manager
PM enhancements
Vba Links
vbadvanced are all but to name a few.

The style is custom, detailed yet simple. People can find the information they want in the easily arranged forums. The domain has been around for 2 years now and ranks 2-3 in our own country for the main keywords and very high every where else for important paintball keywords.

I have recently improved the look and feel of the website. This includes the use of better menus and google custom search.

Any critic would be great.

another Irish vbulletin owner here...just looking into setting up this feature.
Your page looks brilliant, it would make you want to sign up.
The colours are bright and eye catching...havng the youtube feature on the hompage looks the part. There is alot going on...but it makes you want to hang about and read more.

Really love it :D

Nice clean layout, I really like the background effects you have used.

Cheers, some people like it some don't. I do have to adjust it a little as it is only 1600 wide and people on wider monitors get white spaces at the sides. I will just fade it more to white to make a transition.

The main feedback I am looking for is navigation and content. Can you work out with in 10 second with the website is all about for example?

The navigation is excellent ,and yes it is clear in seconds what your site is about,it has given me food for thought on layout and presentation.

Hi from www.powerboat.ie in Ireland.:)

I'm thinking of adding VB Advanced to some of my Irish forums and would welcome a quick chat with you next week?

Feel free to grab a free link and plug for your site at www.irelandandirish.com/forums if you like. We are offering free promotion opportunities to Irish websites and businesses as we launch these new Irish Business Forums.

Hey Stuart,

Vbadvanced is very good for expanding a website. You could use it well on your website there.

Just changed the layout a little, making some more use of the Ajax Tab script.

Any feedback welcome.

I like the colours and the front-page layout. Elegant enough.

When I first visited your site I had Firefox's "NoScript" enabled, so the design was completely different...

(Do you know how does your front-page looks like without JavaScript and/or alikes?)

Hey, I never thought to check out my site with the JS turned off, it sure does look different. It is the front page slideshow that use the JS mostly. Then again, now many people have it turned off these days?

Yeah, I believe that only us (IT technical users / web 'experts') will have JS turned off...

In my case, I only have it turned off because Firefox's "NoScript" addon - I must authorize every single website who has JS in the NoScript icon on the first time I visit new websites. It helps a lot with some JS, with a lot of ads and most of all, with heavy Flash animations... Very helpful.

But I was a bit surprised on how your site was so different looking without JS, as allmost every vB/vBa sites will not have such 'behaviour' when JS is turned off. I mean, the whole layout will be just fine even without JS.

As for 'regular' users, I believe that they will not have JS turned off... ;)
