I'm new to vBulletin basically, only had it a year now. I'm not a coder or employment candidate for Geek Squad. Just an average Joe the Plumber guy. I've kept things pretty much basic because I'm not a bells and whistles kind of guy, except for a few supported hacks because of the ability they offer.

I really like vBadvanced and what it offers. Thank you too all involved, and thanks to members of this site for your help in assisting "average Joe's" like me. Your help is priceless!!!

My site is American Sheepdog, it's a free community resource for concealed carry, Pro-2nd Amendment enthusiasts and those interested in defending their families from criminals. It is very clean in content, though use caution if at work. Some employers may frown just because its contains info on guns and politics. Its basically a NRA or Students for Concealed Carry on Campus type of deal.

I'm actually exploring the concept of using CMPS to integrate the sites together. Undecided if I'm capable of succeeding at it.

Looking for opinions if you are willing....

Thanks

Just somes obs

try and keep the width of your collumns consistant - it makes the site feel unbalanced.

Give the site some individuality in as much as change things to your target interest and forum direction for examle forum_new.gif and forum_old.gif make them your stlye not vbulletins. the site will look "unique" and relevant to its subject.

make sure paths are correct as soon as they are not your collumns will change sizes.

hope im not to critical

No, not critical at all. I am having trouble with that, haven't figured it out yet. I integrated CMPS to the forum and had trouble with it kicking out to the right so I removed it. I'm using the side column temporarily until I can figure it out. Like I said I'm a noob to this thing still, I tend to just get by on most of it. I tried adjusting the template but nothing worked. I think there must be something in the coding I need to do. I'm trying friend, if I only knew how to fix it.

Thanks for the opinion!:)

Ok found the problem. Had a conflict between the default style and the custom style. I integrated the forum again and its stable. I still have a few ad modules to build.

A little word of wisdom to the "sidebars on both side merchants" careful you dont asume everyone is using a "widescreen" monitor as you most likely are. especially in the common area / forums of your site as it willl probably need scrolling slightly, which can be annoying for some. The one sidebar can be ample and dont just fill modules for the sake of it. get your important content correct not just "tat" for want of a better word.

remember "intelligance is knowing a tomato is fruit. Wisdom is not putting tomatos in a fruit salad!"

Thanks, I noticed that today. Problem is my screen is set to 1280 x 800 and it looks fine when I view it. I checked it on another pc set to 1024 x 768 and had to scroll. I've got to reconsider some things....

Thanks for the advice.
