When the installation of CMPS was completed it said I need to remove a file in the admincp directory.

First of all, I have no idea of the file or location since it did not tell me.

I find that a lot of the instructions for vbulletin and vbadvanced are for computer whiz type people and they are not simplified for those of us that need more clues of exactly where to go.

I tried to find my answer on here for over an hour but it's just too time consuming.

So which file am I supposed to delete and where? I do remember seeing something about an index file of which I have 2 in that folder: cmps_index.php and index.php, but I found those on the SmartFTP program by looking throught the files.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you Phil! That was easy enough...wonder why they couldn't spell it out like that?!?

Actually the install script does tell you to delete this file - the message is the last thing displayed when your are done installing CMPS.

This is from the actual install PHP file -->>
You should now delete this file from your admincp directory.<br />Leaving this file here could be a security risk!</strong></span><br /><br /><a href="index.php"><strong>Log Into Admin CP --&gt;</strong></a><br /><br />
<a href="vbacmps_install.php">Click here</a> to go back to the main install page.

Ok, fair enough...but here's the hitch:

The wording is tricky...first it says to delete this file from your admincp directory, then it gives an option to login to your admincp, then it tells you the file.

So I go to login, which takes me to my vb control panel and not the FTP server where I could go straight to the admincp folder and find it. So I searched around the control panel trying to figure out what the heck they were talking about.

If it would say this:
You should now delete this file (vbacmps_install.php) from your admincp directory. Do this by going to your FTP (SmartFTP/Filezilla/etc.) and finding the admincp folder then locate and delete this file. Leaving this file...

Then it's cut and dry.

Before I started my company, I taught high school Algebra, which is usually difficult to convey to entertainment minded kids so you learn how to break things down step by step. So in this case, I'm the high schooler that needs a little simpler instruction, but once I catch on then we're good to go.

I do have some other questions though.

I would like to add some other sections to the bottom of my forum homepage, though the sections will not be forums, but advertisement blocks or spotlight sections.

If you look at my site on the bottom, the section 'What's going on?' is a separate section. I'd like to add a few others like that and put some ad banners in there along with some text or just some images. The page is about to have a new look when the hack guy is finished creating it.

Thanks in advance for your help. And if you don't mind helping me with a few things to get me going, then I'll send you my Trading 101 DVD for your services. It will teach you how to make money in the stock market.

Sincerely,
J. Frazier
