How do I create a 2 column layout?

I've search the forum and read a lot of posts stating opposite things on how to accomplish this. Some are even from last month advising html changes when Brian stated months ago that it would launch vBA CMPS with that ability built in.

I've simply moved all modules to the central and one of the side columns and deleted the value of the empty column in the administration default settings.

Is this the right way?

All you really need to do is make sure you don't have any active modules in one of the columns.
