View Full Version : Reciprocal Link Checker Issue

While I really don't have any links with reciprocal links, today I thought I'd test it to see how the Status Reports fared.

Anyway...I ran the report to check for broken links...That went without a hitch. Well...almost. It returned two bad links...one that failed and one that returned a forbidden error...even though I personally checked the links and they were fine.

Next...I ran the Reciprocal Link Status Report...and that absolutely went "nuts".

It broke CSS and just looped...it did absolutely nothing. Mind you...I have no reciprocal links to check...but still.

I tried with both CURL and fsockopen...getting the best results with CURL...at least the Broken Link checker worked...but still found the two bad links that aren't actually bad. Using fsockopen...the check would hang...I'd click the link listed if it hung for longer than a minute...and it would still just hang. Alos, using fsockopen for Reciprocal Link checking resulted in the same issue I'm experiencing with CURL.

Here are my settings:

Using CURL
For Verify New Links, I can only select and save "No" and "Only Verify Domain". It will not save the setting if I choose "Verify URL Headers".

I'm not sure what other settings I should check. I've had this product for some time and installation went without a hitch. It's just been some time since I've really had the opportunity to fully test it. I guess that fault lies with me. However, I certainly would appreciate any help regarding the above referenced issues.

Thanks, in advance...

PHP functions can only check the headers that are being returned by a web site. So those sites may appear fine, but they're sending back headers saying there's a problem.
For the issues with the report getting stuck, I'd suggest deleting the link it seems to get stuck on and then see if you have the same problem.

Sorry, Brian...but I think there may be a misunderstanding here.

When I go to Admin CP > vBa Links Directory > Modify Settings > Submit Link Verification Options > Verify New Links...I can select and save only two options. The middle option, "Verify URL Headers", will let me select it...but it will not save the change. So, when I select that option and click Save at the bottom of the page...it reverts back to my last setting. I can only choose and save No, or Only Verify Domain.

When I run the Reciprocal Link Checker Status Report...it continually loops. It comes back with the message "No Links to Display", but just continually loops. It also loads my page header, logo, navigation, etc., in the content table of that page...I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be doing this. So somewhere along the line...the reciprocal link report has issues which I cannot fix.

I await your recommendation(s)...

I see you submitted a support ticket a couple of hours ago, so I'll take a look at those issues in a bit.
