setting up Portal middle coloumns

I wanna extract news from the 1st forum ( which is the only forum in there )
I've set it to 1 in the admin but nothing seems to be happening.... :( can somone direct where I'm going wrong.

If you're trying to pull the news from your 'Main Forum' then your News Forum ID needs to be set to 2.
