View Full Version : vBadvanced.com Server Move

vBadvanced.com has just been moved to a new dedicated server. During the move we experienced some problems with the IP address on our new server, as well as a disk filling up on the old server which essentially disabled it. Initially we only intended to do a test run, move everything to the new server, make sure everything was functioning properly, and then begin the transition. Unfortunately the problems with the old server prevented this from happening and we had to go ahead with the move from there. Most everything should be set up now and functioning properly, but some users may still experience some problems while the DNS servers are updating, which could take up to 48 hours. We apologize for the problems and the downtime, but feel that this move was essential in order to provide the best service possible to our clients.

Brian,

Unlucky on the problems... some things never work out no matter how hard you plan in advance :D

I had 2 open tickets in the members system that are no longer there. Should I submit new ones or are you still repopulating some database tables?

Cheers,

~Regs.

I feel your pain, just ran into that horrid issue recently.

Regs - I *should* be able to dig your tickets out of the database on the old server. If I'm unable to find them for some reason though I'll let you know.
*Edit* Just checked and the tickets from both databases are matching up. The last one I'm seeing from you is the one about the PhotoPost import. Are you not seeing that one, or have you submitted another one since that?

Seems now to add insult to injury, my cable modem is running at about 200k/second. For some reason I can't transfer the database from my personal site through telnet, so I'm trying to upload a 400k database, which is going to take forever at these speeds.

Brian,

The newest ones are both there now, thanks. The old, closed ones are not showing up now though that's not a big deal to me and is more of a FYI :D

Should I be worried that I have server info sitting in there with the recent vB3 security announcement?

Cheers,

~Regs.

Old tickets shouldn't be displayed since they're closed issues. We haven't upgraded here yet (had too much going on with the move and such), but we are patched. ;)

Server here is up to date software wise, the 3.0.5 exploit we are safe from because of the patch and the server config

Brian, can u tell us or me in a pm who you have as a host/server?
We need to find a new server but not all servers will work or like vB.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Here's our criteria

Data center (because we don't want a middle man
VPS (if they have dedicated offers that we can move to and if they will guarantee that no mySql customer is on our shared server)
or
Dedicated servers
Service and managed servers
Cost
