I had some reservations about using vBAdvanced when I first found it, but went ahead and installed it on a trial basis.
I'm very pleased to report that the experiment was an unmitigated success. I'm running three news pages from my vBulletin software, have numerous custom pages, blocks etc., all running seamlessly with no problems at all. The server load on my server has been reduced drastically (I used to use PostNuke as the front-end portal), overall site cohesiveness has been achieved, and my users a very happy with the result. I won't be going back!
You can see my site at http://www.enworld.org. If you use the "EN World" dropdown menu (the first dropdown in the nav bar), you'll see links to the other two news pages, Sci-fi & Fantasy News and PDF News.
I have a large number of other hacks also running seamlessly in conjunction with vBAdvanced - there have been no compatibility problems of any kind. Editing pages, blocks, menus and news items is simple.
Thanks, Brian, for a wonderful hack! :)
For those interested, I had to disable a couple of front page options (users online, stats, top poster) because they increased the server load too much (I have a pretty busy site); but I would never have been able to display such info before anyway, so it's no loss.
