What's the industry standard software for doing web work these days. I need it to be simple :o . I'm using Microsoft Front Page. Is it obselete for doing work once you get into doing a lot with forums?

Also, what's the standard for graphics programs..also keeping it simple and not too expensive?

thanks

HomeSite, UltraEdit, etc. Any text based HTML/PHP editor is best. WYSIWYG editors screw up code too much.

I still do 99% of my coding in Prolix, a freeware text editor. :(

I do 100% of my code editing in UltraEdit (well, with the exception of editing some templates in the admin cp :p). For graphics, I use Photoshop.

I used PSP for years, but had to switch to Photoshop because of the quality of the images PSP outputs.

I use ConteXt for html stuff and PhotoShop 7 for all my imagery... I have recently been trying out Ace HTML5 Freeware though - and it's quite nice.

incidentally, does anyone know how to get wordwrap to work in ConteXt?

Is Photoshop Elements good enough? or if I go with Photoshop does it have to be one of their more high end programs? Are there any WYSIWYG editors worthy of considerations...don't make me code...I need to be making money doing my other income producing stuff.

I don't think it can 'slice' the graphics like you would need if you were to create a new style. Hopefully one of the graphics people can correct me I'm wrong on that one.

There are no decent html wisywig editors, plain and simple

I use editpad lite for most of my coding now, no highlighting, no anything fancy :)
It has a multiline search and replace which i love :)

Photoshop elements is a great tool and it can do quite abit of what photoshop and image readyt can do. IIRC it can do slicing, try the demo and make sure its what you want.

Photoshop 7 for design and Editplus for code's :) I am pretty happy with both of them. Sometimes I use Notepad if I have to use special Turkish characters :)

I think that's the one that's made by the same people that make CuteFTP. (I hope it's less buggy than CuteFTP.)

Anybody have experience with Rapid PHP? (http://www.blumentals.net/rapidphp)

It's features versus price is making it very attractive. I love the 'code snippets' thing.
