Is vb links directory search engine friendly?

Is it a good way for other sites to get indexed?

that aside, is vbulletin itself able to get indexed?

My forum permissons allow anyone to view threads and posts, but requires membership to post. does vb's sitemap feature allow indexing by google and other search engines?

thanks

1. VbLinks is not really search engine friendly... you may get a couple of pages indexed but not all of them...

2.If you make the url search engine friendly, I believe it is...

3. vBulletin itself... is probably more search engine indexable... specially since it has an archive that stores every single thread in friendly urls...

4. Yes...

Not very search engine friendly. Most of our links aren't indexed unfortunately.

I guess it depends on who you talk to and what their opinions about SEO are. Every link on my personal site is indexed with Google, and most people do not have any problems getting their links indexed at all.

I never had a problem getting ranked for links. Some even come up before the official site.

Hmmm... did you make any SEO enhancements to your Links? It would be great if VBSEO would flow onto optimizing the Links too.

No, my personal site is running a default installation.

I wonder if it would make a difference putting the Links folder inside the vBulletin folder. Currently Links is in root, so I have a feeling it doesn't do as good as it could if Links was inside the forum folder.

As far as I know changing the location of the files shouldn't make any difference at all. If anything, it may hurt things now unless you set up a 303 redirect since you would be moving the current location and killing any current Google links. One thing I might suggest would be to change the links you've added to point to "/links/index.php" instead of just "/links". Any links in the script will point to links/index.php, which Google is going to recognize as a different page from "/links".
