newbie question

I am trying to get my head around this and cannot grasp the concept even after reading the manual.

All I wanted was to have CMPS display the generic template with left, center and right columns, the install was done by vbadvanced and they configured the admin panel but not the front end to display it.

If I can get this working then maybe then I could work out how to start using it at least.

Any guidence would be appreciated

go to your admin control panel and make sure your settings are set accordingly. you'll find that you have a new section in the left column (in your acp) that says vba cmps. go in there. you have to set up where it's getting its info from....forum ids and the like.

everything appears to be already set up in there by the vb team who did the install but I have had no response as yet from the support request.

What do you mean they didn't configure the front end? What are you seeing when you visit the vbadvanced index page? What errors do you get?

all the install is, is an install. they will not configure anything once it is functioning.

It's up to you to set your news forum and/or set up any additional pages with the templates you would like to display as we have no way to know how you would like to customize things.
