I'm been trying to get this to work all morning and I'm stumped.

I used the second news module located somewhere on here as a base and began modding it so it only displayed titles.

I got that far, and thats where I'm stuck. I am a complete php noob so I was not able to get it to display correctly; new table was made for each entry and it would not align to the center column...

Anyway, I'm looking for a latest news column. It wouldn't be too hard for an average coder. Just get posts from certain forum, display title and date all in a module...

It's always best to post a request for help in the same thread as the actual hack. Which second news hack are you trying to get working?

It is not nesarcerally a second news hack. It was just how I started to go around trying to create a latest news hack. I thought it would be a good starting ground. I got as far as getting it to only display the title but could not get it to display right. I believe it was the php file that needed changing to include the templates (adv_portal_latestnews and adv_portal_latestnewsbits).

That was simply a suggestion of where to start. Sorry if it was misunderstood.

Anyone going to do this hack, I'm sure many sites would appreciate it aswell as me.

Edit: Thinking about this... it would be a true latest topic thread instead of it being latest post on topic.

Sorry to double post but I would love this module to be made and I don't see any problem in even a rookie php coder being able to make it.

Sorry to triple post but this module is not a complex coding job and should be easy, its just I don't know any php. I'm sure it could be done by modifying either the news.php or latesttopics.php files.
