Is there a module/template, something out there for this?

I run a professional photography forum & gallery.

The members have requested that they would like to have something that they can post their fine art images to, where the public can see them and purchase them? Giving the forum owner a % and the balance would go to the member who sold the image.

Is this possible?
or is it already out there?
Any help &/Or instructions would be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps something like a shopping cart integrated with PayPal? If so, I am looking into something like this for another user.

I'd rather the $ go through their PP acct, then mine and them pay me.
Maybe that would just be something else I myself can discuss with them. but I'd need a way to track who has sold what.

I would say that you collect the funds and then pay them. Sell the images on consignment.

When a person purchases the image the money is deposited into YOUR paypal account. You take your percentage and then pay them the balance. This is how numeorus stores sell items on consignment. After all it is your server, and you have put up the money and time to make their sale possible.

If you leave it up to them to pay you after the sale, you will find yourself being hosed numerous times.

Or

You could just charge a fee to allow them to sell their images on your site. Say a percentage of the sale price.

The honor system doesnt always work. I have been there a few times.

Like a module? shopping cart? of some sort? Why not just create a "For Sale" Catagory in your gallery and go from there? Or you could use your subscription service in vb to allow people to purchase the right to post images for sale.

Just:
1: Create a new user group and call it whatever you like.
2: Setup a subscription to purchase a membership to that group.
3: Allow the members of that group to submit images for sale into a specialized catagory in the gallery.
4: If someone wishes to purchase an image the contact the poster of said image.
