I have the second one on one of my sites and it works fine.
I have a new site now, and dont know which one is better to use?

If you are using vBA why wouldn't you want a working connection to the that left side through vBA? By creating it a la vb.org you would have to separately manage it...

As for the side... It should be on the right side. As a matter of fact, all the damn menus should be on the right side all the time on all web sites, but some freak decided that it should be on the left side. Top row is acceptable, but left side is the dumbest place to put it.

Actually it was a lot of freaks and they did a lot of research. :p

Turns out those freaks might still be wrong. At least according the usability studies Nielsen conducted. :D but who cares, right? As long as we can get the menu somewhere...
