I just dropped a friendly hint over at the vbulletin.com/forum (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?p=861787#post861787) to say that not only should the calendar events be searchable, users should be able to post responses to the event.
Problem is, which will get it done, vbulletin.com or vbadvanced.com ? It seems that the search and post functions in the Gallery and Links pages has us spoiled.

We are not part of jelsoft, since the calendar is part of the stock system. you should inquire at vBulletin.com

Gosh, I guess I knew that you aren't part of Jelsoft. I have all three of your products.
I was merely suggesting that a better calendar function would be appropriate, whether written by Jelsoft or vBadvanced. The current calendar is sorely lacking functionality.
---
Perhaps I should have explained that we are using the calendar for more than simple birthdays. We have implemented a show calendar and an auction calendar where event titles are actually the city and state. The contents of the calendar post are a full description of the event including what's going on and directions to get there. The auction posts are essentially an advertisement for the auctioneer including a list of items for sale.
Thus the desire to be able to "search" key words in these events and add on additional information from others who will be in attendance. The "search" and "post" functions of the vBadvanced Gallery or the vBadvanced Links programs would do excellently in this regard.
I'm sure that the seeds that grew into the Gallery and the Links pages grew from something such as this, hopefully not to be stomped out at first light.

Have you tried posting this at www.vbulletin.org? Chances are that it may already exist as a hack.. Just a thought.

Oldengine,
For a possible short-term solution I'd go with something like this: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67074
That hack will automatically create a thread in your forums with the contents of the calendar event; that way when a person does a search the thread copy will be returned.
