need help - new modules won't show up

I've attempted several tries at adding a new module to my homepage with no luck. I have followed the examples and instructions here to the absolute letter and nothing ever shows up.

A little more information, such as what module and what values you added when adding the module would be helpful.

I figured it out. I was putting the "adv_portal" prefix in when naming which template to use. In other words, I called my links module "adv_portal_links". When adding a module and telling it what template to use, I was putting "adv_portal_links" instead of just "links".

Just remember, when you create a page, you must have adv_portal_name when you do it.
