News Forum ID...?

How do I find out the different News Forum IDs???

...and is it possible to have a 'hidden' forum that I can fill with news stories, and they will automatically be placed onto the hompage (showing headline/some or all of the text/any images)...???

Edit the forum in the admin cp and at the top of the page you will see the forumid.
If you don't want your users to be able to access the forum at all just set your forum permissions accordingly. If you just don't want the forum to be seen with the rest of your forums just set the 'Active' option to 'No' when editing the forum.

one more thing... say I have set up a news archive module - based on the adv_portal_news_archive template...... where do I insert the forum ID to tell it where to source the news from?

it uses the same ID's that are being pulled for news. Hence the title. ;)

sorry... I'm still confused..
in my default page settings I've inserted 17 (my news forum)- I've created several news modules -- but none are showing any news??
what have I missed..
please be gentle... I'm very new at this!

You must post in your news forum for the threads to display. What do you mean "I've created several news modules"?

sorry -- fixed it...
I did have news in the forum.. but I'd created several different news/newsbits modules to try different settings...
I didn't realise it had to have news.php selected I was choosing a template??
..anyway it seems to be working for the moment..!!
