Main Page problems with links/ directing

ok.. i installed the vbadvanced and in the instructions made info.php and ran it and it gave this as my main directory
/www/htdocs/mysite/forum/

i changed the name to index.php and renamed the other one to indexforum.php and i would get

Warning: chdir() [function.chdir]: No such file or directory (errno 2) in /usr/www/htdocs/mysite/forum/index.php on line 21

Unable to add cookies, header already sent.
File: /usr/www/htdocs/mysite/forum/cmps_index.php
Line: 21

it adds the /usr/ infront of it, i never told it too

so i used the // infront of chdir and it loads the page with the login, but when i login there is no link for the forum anywhere. it shows the User Control panel, search forums, calendar, and my links above, but not a box that shows the buddylist links or Forum link or anything...

for now i have changed it back to index so at least i can go directly to the forum.

It's up to you where you want to add the link to your forum, the script does not add it automatically.

ok so just //chdir and then how do i get it to where it has the top left corner has that welcomebox with the buddylist, and links???

Ok i just want the code and "how to do" a link box.. all i need is a link to the forum.. some one PLEASE help...

Something like the LINKS on the main page of this.. just one box with a header called NAVIGATION and ONE link named FORUM... thats it...
