How can I ensure that a stuck thread stays at the top of the news module? I need to ensure that the info in that particular thread is on top and readily available (gotta make it easy for some members) and the forum news I post should follow.
I currently have my news module displaying 3 topics, but when I add a new topic, the IMPORTANT one gets bumped down.

I have the same problem.
The only thing i could think of was to make a module, and then fill that with the info you want to stay on top.

I used the 2nd news module and made this show at the top of cmps. WHen I want to put my news or news required to keep at top - I simply post in this new news module. I have set it to display only 2 news items... works fine...

Okay, I haven't done this (mess with modules) in a while, so I need some extra help.
I created a new module, and named it STUCK NEWS. I set it up just like the original NEWS module, but how do I get it to display the particular threads I want?

You need to install the 2nd News Module hack that's available here (http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5235).
Then you can set up CMPS to show your news items associated with this 2nd News Module at the top of your CMPS page. Take a look at my site to see the two news items at the top of the page. Those two items are from my 2nd news module... I have it set up such that if I move posts from there to my news archive, then posts from the default news forum will be shown at the top.
I have the default CMPS latest news module set up to show posts from the User Submitted News forum category, and the 2nd News Module set up to show posts from my tMP News forum category. Users cannot post into the tMP News forum and so I retain control over what appears at the top of my CMPS page. I also have new threads to the User Submitted News forum moderated such that they need to conform to specific prublishing guidelines. I also use a conditional somewhere (forget where exactly, but will dig out if you want and find useful) in the new thread templates that shows additional instructions above the posting area when users start a new thread in that specific forum.
Must say here that full credit goes to tomshawk for creating one of the most useful additional new CMPS modules available anywhere.
Good luck with your setup... shout if I or anyone can help... you usually get a great response on here.

Search the forums for 'sticky' and you should find a post where I've explained how to change it to keep sticky news threads at the top.

well, I used the info found in the hack described above. Took a little work, since the thread is all crazy, but I got it figured out. thx.
