.. that was not for me actually, but for the newbies that have no attitude with coding... there are a lot you know...
... with more than 3 thousand hundred codelines on vB, i know how to reverse an install.. :)Yea right, suuuurrrreeee.. ;)

also, about the upgrade, would be VERY GOOD to identify the files modified in the older version and how to make them back to the original way, as we don't need these modifs anymore...

but actually, this is the only only detail i can think of... GREAT UPGRADE!If you're referring to the modified vB files then the upgrade instructions at the bottom of the readme file go over that.

I'm done... all upgraded and running on CMPS2.0. A few issues with a few modules but we'll soon be sorted.

Great stuff Brian... top class work as ever... well done.

What was the problem with v1.0?

Hey Brian, i hope you have a version for vB 3.5 ready to release, because this one is not... ;) it's not major, just a complete rehersal of all the variables, most of the main functions are completely different, mysql queries are all different too, and file structures is not changed...

is it planned to make a vb 3.5 version soon ?!... or we will have to wait for the jelsoft cms planned for 2009... lol

to tell you the truth I don't think that there is an immediate need to release a version for 3.5, it is still in beta version, it is not even supported by vbulletin, since it is still in the beta stage, and it is probably full of bugs and other issues, till they get to the next beta releases. I know this question was pointed to Brian, but I thought that maybe I should share my thoughts too.

Well truth of the matter is this, the code they currently use right now for 3.5 won't change much from now to the final release so getting vba out now would be a good idea cuz some people run 3.5 on a live site that needs the portal system. I'm sure he is working on it right now. I might even try to just work it over myself for now until Brian gets an official release on it.

Brians waiting for one plug in to be added. I imagine he can get it out quite fast since the core code doesn't need that much changing.

please remember that vbulletin 3.5.0 is far away from realease and most likely there will be more internal changes so it's not possible to create hacks for 3.5 yet

U are wrong on that part since the hacks were released in a week or so as vB 3.5 beta 1 come out. I know when the full release comes out it will be the same. :p

dafire

Well .. it's correct if we speak about hacks for the beta .. but the original poster was speaking about vbulletin 3.5.0 which is far away from release and since api will change it's not possible to create hacks for it yet.

Sure you can create hacks for the beta versions but they will probably have to get reworked with every new beta version. If you read the vbulletin.com forums you will find threads about upcoming changes in the plugins/hacks system.

so please read the posts before *****ing around

I'd like to know if when vb 3.5 gets released and if I have vbadvanced installed, what do I have to do in order to have vb35 installed?

Do I have to unisnstall vbadvanced and upgrade to vb35? Is it problematic the unisntall of vbadvanced or will my db get clean as if I never had installed it?

I am considering installing vba but I haven't done so yet because of the imminent (months :D) release of vb35 and because I don'k know it it is easy to uninstall vba.

It has been asked and answered 100's of times.

When the vba products are compatible with 3.5 there will be an announcement.

To those who keep saying vb 3.5 is buggy and not ready for production I have to say you are probably wrong. I am guessing there will be 3 more beta releases MAX before it goes gold. This could happen in the next 30 days.

I've got 3.5 up and running on my test site and everything is perfect. I refuse to upgrade until there is a vbadvanced available for it though since Jelsoft's CMS has many years to go. :D

There will also be several RC releases before it goes gold. It'll be a while.

they have beta 3 now. one of the staff members said that there will be probably less beta versions as with vb3.0 which had 7 beta versions.

Same here: I've been running it on a test server and it performs flawlessly. The only reason I haven't upgraded it on my production site is because I'm waiting for vBa Gallery to be made compatible. A compatible vBa CMPS would be nice as well, but I can go without it for awhile; my members would be quite sore with me if I closed down the gallery for any length of time.

I wouldn't be in too much of a rush yet, Freddie Bingham talks about redoing the entire poll system, which means if vbadvanced was done now, that module would have to be redesigned/redone

heres our current forum :

http://www.50klicks.com

can anyone tell by looking at the types of modules I have, whether I will have any imediate problems when I update to version 2 of vba ?

in particular, i remember back with vba 1 we had to alter a bunch of stuff to do with the calendar? this version does not seem to mention that stuff - so how will it act with the already changes calendar templates and files?

sorry if Im woffling here - im not sure I understand what im talking about myself? just worried I will screw my site over by updating ?

I must say, this is absolutely great....

I just upgraded from Invision Power Board to vBulletin and had a portal on IPB but this blows that out of the water...

Thanks for the great work.

*As far as I know* you should not have any problems with the modules you currently have. For the calendar, v2.0 uses it's own templates so that the changes to vB's templates are no longer necessary.

That won't happen in 3.5... He is talking about a future version as far as I am aware. 3.5 is pretty much feature locked.

Another question (which I don't know if it is ansewred or not :( )

Is the development of vba 2.0 RC1 stopped until vb3.5 gets out or can we expect vba to go gold/final even if vb3.5 doesn't come out.

I'd like ton install vba but i'm afraid of RC jamming my db :S

I'm not sure if my problem will be corrected if I download the lates RC2 or not but here is my problem.

On my portal page, I have two news blurbs that I needed attention directed towards. One of the two are now over with, and I tried to put another one in there, but still shows up not-corrected.

I removed all my news topics, and saved everything. Nothing changed.
I re-selected different topics, nothing changed.

I'm stumped as to how I get new News Topics in the middle of my portal page, if they shouldn't be showing up at all after I removed everything. <shruggs>
