I figured that bit out to change the LIMIT from 1 to 3
How did you fit the title bar so it goes all the way across your module. Take a look at my site to se what I mean, it only goes across two images then breaks

I used this code for my earlier version of my site. However, I just upgraded to 2.0 and 3.5 forum cmps and gallery. When I try to use this version I get the following error:
Warning: array_keys(): The first argument should be an array in \includes\functions_gallery.php on line 427

the templet i use named "adv_portal_gallery_random":<tr>$randomimagebits</tr> i do not belive there is any thing different between the gallery_random.php file i use and the one posted in the first post (http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showpost.php?p=47858&postcount=1) other than the settings ? .. . been using it since ? 3.5 came out .
attached the one "I" am currently using - with the settings "I" am using! center col, 3 images .
my/ the Module settings:
Module Title: Random Gallery
Column: Center
Display Order: 3
Active: Yes (checked)
File to Include: gallery_random.php

Clean File Output: No (checked)
Use Module Shell Template: Yes (checked)
Module Link: {$vbulletin->options[bburl]}/gallery/index.php (optional - so change/ correct if you use it !)

Form Code: ( blank )
Usergroups your choice .
(My server : Server: Lunix, Web Server: apachie, PHP: 4.3.11, MySLQ: 4.0.25-standard)

@dbabaev
don't know if I can help you, because I'm not so familar with all of this, but I also have vb 3,5 RC2/CMPS v2.0.0 and get it to work, before had the same error as you.
Try to put in your adv_portal_gallery_random:
<tr>
<td class="$bgclass">
<id="collapseobj_forumhome_gallery_random" style="$vbcollapse[collapseobj_forumhome_gallery_random]">
<tr>$randomimagebits</tr>
</td>
</tr>
And try to change the settings in your module, same as shown in the image below.
Maybe it helps for you, good luck

Is there a way to limit this to only one category, and second, to set it up to be less load intensive (maybe pull a new random image every 24 hours or something).

Hello from Germany to ya all,
well just for newbies with CMPS 2.0 and vb 3.5 gold there is nearly no chance to get this coding to work because of the thousands of different postings here neither to get some useful information what code is for what revision.
Please be so kind to organize the different solutions in a way for all users so that we be able to find the right codes for the right versions of cmps and vb.
May be, Brian it is useful to open a section for proofed codes?
Thanks for your help and understanding.
So at last my question: What codes have i to use for cmps 2.0 - final - and vb 3.5 gold? Who got this working and would be so nice to post his solution in a a little workaround for me to understand?

I'm using the gallery_random.php file that was posted in the first post of this thread. In the instructions it says:
// If you DON'T want of these fields to show then unremark
// the line in question by removing the "//" in the front it.
$showfields['description'] = 1;
$showfields['rating'] = 1;
$showfields['user'] = 1;
$showfields['dateline'] = 1;
$showfields['views'] = 1;
$showfields['dimensions'] = 1;
$showfields['filesize'] = 1;
$showfields['posts'] = 1;
$showfields['lastpost'] = 1;
But they already have the "//" removed and they are still showing!

Any news about vb3.5 version of that hack ? I really think gallery module and links module should come by default with CMPS
as its all your product it should be compatible.

LOL for vb 3.5 just use this
<tr>$randomimagebits</tr>
sic! yes just one line of code..
as
adv_portal_gallery_random
and enable it on Edit PAges >> Default / Homepage >> Modules Enabled
if you want more images...
LIMIT = 3
for example
than in
Edit Module >> Random Gallery >> Title Row Colspan set it to 3
thats all folks this hack works perfect with vb 3.5 >> www.eroportal.org
its all said above just read all topics...

Any Ideas to reduce the Gallery Images to one or more categories ?
I tried to modifiy gallery_random.php in this way
// Get a random file
$show['randomimages'] = true;
$getrand = $db->query_read("
SELECT imageid, images.title, filename, thumbname, originalname, extension, images.catid $query[fields]
FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "adv_gallery_images AS images
$query[tables]
WHERE $privcatids valid = 1
WHERE catid = 12
ORDER BY RAND()
LIMIT 3
");
but i got only DB errors ...
with
// Get a random file
// $show['randomimages'] = true;
$getrand = $db->query_read("
SELECT imageid, images.title, filename, thumbname, originalname, extension, images.catid
FROM adv_gallery_images AS images
WHERE catid = 12
ORDER BY RAND()
LIMIT 3
");
i got no Images in the output ...
Any Ideas to solve it ?

I see this code on the php file to exclude categories but where do I put the category numer I want to exclude in this code?
// Get a list of categories to be EXCLUDED from our query
if ($privatecatids = fetch_private_categories())
{
$privcatids = 'images.catid NOT IN(' . $privatecatids . ') AND ';
}

Any idea how this module would be customized to show only the latest photo for people with specific data in one of their custom profile fields? For instance, my users choose their geographic location for one of their required custom profile fields, and I want to show recent photos only by those who chose 'Xlocation' in their profile, how would I do it?

I upgraded to the new version of cmps & gallery, look at my output if I have 3 or more pictures... http://www.livingreefs.com How do I get them to tile to another line say if I wanted to display 12 pictures?
I added a second <tr>$randomimagebits</tr> which now displays a second line but it displays the same pictures as the first line. Im just trying to figure it out. :)
if you want to add more picture just change the attached file gallery_random.php
find out the query from the file ->
$getrand = $DB_site->query("
SELECT imageid, images.title, filename, thumbname, extension, images.catid $query[fields]
FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "adv_gallery_images AS images
$query[tables]
WHERE $privcatids valid = 1
ORDER BY RAND()
LIMIT 1
");
Now change at the last line where -> LIMIT 1 <- Here you add how many pictures you want to show randomly . If you want 12 pics then it will be LIMIT 12
I think it will work for you ...;)

Hi.....
I have faced the same problem as you mentioned, but I solved this problem anyway. To remove this error I had to change a little in the module 'gallery_random.php'.
I attached the file below which I changed. Try out with that hope you could solve your problem. After trying this one let me know if it works for you or not.

Just want to know if this would work on Photopost VBGallery V2 using VB 3.6 and VBa 2.2?
The answer will probably be "go to photopost website" but after having a quick look I couldnt find anything.
I had the random gallery working fine on 3.5.4 wit 2.1 but had to reinstall the new version of VBGallery 2 (to suit VB3.6) from photopost.
Any answers would be great, cheers!

"vBa Gallery Uploads in Profile" hack is the problem.
Easy fix in member.php
- find 'bbcodecache'
and replace with
'bbcodecache',
'gallery_c_cache',
'adv_gallery_opt',
'gallery_ugroups'
I found the hint here: http://www.photopost.com/forum/showthread.php?t=119508&highlight=profileimagebits

As I mentioned above, this module is quite old meaning it was written for an older version of CMPS and an older version of vBa Gallery (which doesn't even exist anymore with that name). Zachariah has used this hack as the basis for an expanded version and released it on several sites like vB.org and PhotoPost.com -- You can find his version on those sites.
