REQUEST and BLUEPRINT by cgmojoco directed to community Vbulletin and cmps developers
A better looking/functioning mini-calendar would be outstanding!
My suggestions
Specifically:
1-Option to add a 'mini-icon' (mini-icons would be a new feature) that would show up in the mini-calendar after adding an event to the calendar. (move the text up on the little squares in the mini-calendar, and leave just a little space for 'mini-icons' (or at least a few letters of text) that can communicate either: attention (!) or a mini-cake icon for B-day's, or M for meetings etc, etc). (----see key blueprint below)
This could get complicated on days where more than one event takes place, so the icon would show only for the last event mini-icon added by default-- with the option to change which icon shows for the day in the calendar options if the user deems necessary. (plus you can have a different 'modified mini-icon' than indicates there is more than one event on that day----i.e. birthday image shows because that was the last event added, and a modified icon shows up with a red dot because there is more than one event that day)
This can all be clarified in the mini-icon key (see below for that blueprint idea).
1b- Create a child module to the mini-calendar that would be a key (like on a map) that would show the various 'mini-icons' and would list the different meanings of those icons on both the calendar and mini-calendar. ( the meanings can be entered at the time the mini-icon is added to the calendar and the event posted by the user--- both the meanings of each icon and the # of icons allowed to be shown in the key module can be changed in the admincp area as well as within the main calendar by the admin or moderator).
2-this month and next month or previous month text/links (optionaly) showing in the little 'mini header' of the module. (Option to create month abbreviations to really tighten things up/save space and fit more than TWO months on the 'mini-heade'r of the module).
OR optionally have one month on top and one month below etc etc. (I guess this wouldn't be to hard to do-simple hack)
3-Each day is a link to that day, even if there are no events that day (for quick calendar editing directly from the front page-OPTIONAL).
Anyone interested in developing this proposed 'more robust' calendar?
Any other ideas please add to the blue print!
Anybody thinks this is a bad idea or any piece of it is redundant or a bad idea, let me know also.
Brian, would this be a feasible development option for you and your team?
I.e. Any chance you would be interested in building some sort of VBadvanced_Calendar!
I hope so, my opinion is that this would REALLY help business users to get a quick update on events from the front page without hovering over days, or going into the calendar etc.)
