I really liked having upcoming events as a module, and since I upgraded last night, it's gone...if anyone finds this, or creates it, I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks in advance.

U should still have it in your:
Admincp=>Styles & Templates=>Style Manager=>Edit Templates

All u need to do is go to :
Admincp=>vBa CMPS=>Add Module=>[PHP File] or [Template] ( [Template] u do not need to enter code again just title & the the part after "adv_portal_" u might have some problems if u leave Module Shell Template Options Use Module Shell Template=> default settings "yes", u might have to edit your template or just set it to "no"). to add back your modules

I guess I'm not following you very well. The template that to be modified before was adv_portal_calendar, and that template doesn't exist any more.

You might want to try to run the installer again, and just install the templates. Here is the contents of adv_portal_calendar

<!-- Mini Calendar -->

<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" class="tborder" width="100%">

$calendarbits

</table>
<br />

<!-- End Mini Calendar -->

That's really strange. I just ran the installer and updated templates...that template still doesn't exist. I have multiple adv_portal_calendar templates, but there's something else after them. I don't have just "adv_portal_calendar." It was removed somehow when I upgraded to RC1. Am I missing something?

Did you just download a new .zip file for the installation then reupload all them? or did you have one that was a couple days old.

I can't even find the updated version of the upcoming events module for CMPS 2 (I didn't have it installed on CMPS 1)

The version here doesn't seem to work:
http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=828&page=1&pp=30

Because in the instructions it states to put code above line in the mini-calendar.php file:
eval('$home[$mods[\'modid\']][\'content\'] .= "' . fetch_template('adv_portal_calendar') . '";');
Problem is that this code does not exist in CMPS2 mini-calendar.php file.

This hack looks promising, and helps to achieve what I've been looking for as an extension to the mini-calendar:

Hey Brian, I'm trying to figure this out...which template is the minicalendar in? I see 4 portal calendar templates, but nothing that resembles the old adv_portal_calendar template.

Well, I've really been working hard to try and figure this out, but no luck. Hopefully some more experience coders will be able to figure it out.

I've been trying as well with no luck so far. I'm a VBA newbie so I've got a lot to learn.

It is time for Brian to develop a VBACalendar!!

This way all of the wonderful calendar enhancements would be upgraded along with the CMPS.

VBA calendar should have:
upcoming events list
Optional icons loaded into the interface for better look graphically
Register for events
Option to insert a forum thread as an event

Then again maybe VB3.5 will have this at the last minute?!?!

This is what I had in mind for the Mini-calendar ala Vbadvanced--see attached.

The user sees easily navigatable calendar. They can navigate through the months and can see a list of events for each month (or the results can be truncated with a more option at the bottom if there are to many events that month). When they refresh the page or return to the page they are given the month that we are currently in again.

The user can cycle through the months and see all of the events using the arrows or the ultra-mini calendars.

The ultra-mini calendars on the side would be optional---seeing as they would probably break up the formating of most every other module.

They can register for an event simply by checking the box next to the event---then the admin and/or other users can see who is registered for the event.

A notification can be sent either via PM or email to the user when the event comes within a specified range of time before the event. User or admin controlled.

The user is then prompted upon their next login to let the admin know if they actually attended the event and a poll is created to determine if the event went well---the poll is pulled as a result of all feedback from members that attended the event (poll optional per event and/or globally for all events set by admin)

(Points can be given depending on how often they attend events)

So has anybody figured this out yet?

Not that I'm aware of. We're all waiting patiently. Hopefully they don't wait until 3.5 comes out. Man I wish I could program...

Ya i definately need this too. Unfortunately my users are a bunch lazy so and so's..unless its staring them in the face that dont see it, and cant find it. Making that link available under the mini calendar for events makes things a lot easier.

I was just thinking I need to look for an events addon so here I am and this is not what I wanted to see.

Have to have something for events.

Ok.. So instead of adding it into the calendar, has anyone figured out how to do this as a stand alone module?

Or can someone w/ coding skills > mine tell us how to do it? :confused:

I would just love to see the mini calendar bold days, with href to details, for days that have events on them.

MotoUp

By default, the minicalendar does show links for days that have events, and you can click on them for the details.

pedigree

hmm, must be something that I missed then because mine isnt doing it :( It also shows the link to the month (at the top of the minicalendar as calendar.php?c=-1 - which gives a permissions error as -1 doesnt exist.

cgmojoco
07-23-2005, 01:29 AM
Make sure that in the page settings (and or the module settings) that the proper calendar is selected for your minicalendar....

Sometimes creating a new calendar fixes the problem (then just assign mini-calendar to use the new calendar you created---make sure the permissions on this new calendar are set the way you want them or nobody will see anything!)

pedigree
07-30-2005, 04:12 PM
easier - change the install code for the mini calender from -1 to 1, thus selecing the default calendar on install

I agree, especially the option to register for events! Would be great for clan sites so members could signup for a match, etc.
