hiya guys.

still a newbie at all this. ive bin used to Invision and IBnuke so this is a whole new avenue to me.

Now my problem is with the VBA 2. it seems that im reading round the forums and there are people having problems with this and the modules that they have on their sites.

Im under a deadline to get my site set up and running with no big problems.

would anyone advise that its best to stick with VBA 1 untill such a time that majority of module developers have had a play with it?

I am having problems with the Geek Article system which i think was designed for version 1. be honest.... I dont know what the hell im doing!

Geek Article System was designed for vBulletin, not CMPS, but there are some CMPS modules for the Geek Article System.

At this point I'd recommend sticking with CMPS 2.x because of the added benefits it gives.

Yes, but CMPS 1.x is alot easier to install and doesn't cause as many problems that he might encounter and since he's under a deadline, 1.x might be better right now, then he can always upgrade to 2.x

Just an opionon

How is 1.x easier to install? There are 3 modifications to one vB file with 2.x, as opposed to the same modifications to that file and 4 others, plus modifications to 4 templates. Most of the problems encountered with 2.0 so far are very minor and fixes have been posted as well.

If you're convinced that the probelms with that module are related to v2.0 of the CMPS I might suggest installing 1.0.1 on a test forum first and then see if you have the same probelms. Or, if you would like to tell me what you did to add the articles module and what problems your experiencing then I'll see if there's anything obvious that was done incorrectly and see if we can get you set up.

2.0 is much more powerful, and actually worthy of a professional site. If you de-grade now, you'll just have to upgrade later. Why not save yourself some work?

It is like when cmp version 1.0.0 came out it had bugs in it then got fix, then cmp version 1.0.1 fix those problem and it is the same with boards they always upgrade and have patches. U just have to pardon the tech geeks for that. Progress Sucks! Ha Ha Ha got to live with it or u be lost.

I was worried about all these little problems but that was just that little things that were quickly fixed by the staff here. Now they have the daunting task to get it to work with vB 3.5 beta then again after it is finalize. :)

Yes, there is a problem with the geek article system module, so...

If you really want your articles on the cmps so bad, its like 3 steps

1) Disable the geek article cmps module, until it is fixed

2) Create a copy of the latest topics module.
Choose your article forums from the list of available
Move it to the center column and enable it

The only thing you loose is the image

My point is this is not a reason to downgrade ;)

This is one of the kewl features Brian added to the CMPS 2.0
