Need suggestions-- should I wait or install now?

Hi there.

I'm in abit of a situation here. I'm not sure whether to wait until vB 3.5 (due to it having sort of a plug and play support for mods) or just install vBa 2 now.

I'm currently not running vBa or anything, I use Mambo and vB on it's own.. I want to have more of a community feel.

As such I will most likely buy the Gallery and Links programs as well.

Another question I have is say I do install vBa 2 now, since it's RC how easy is it to upgrade to the stable release when it does come out? Also will that come out before 3.5, I don't want to install it now and then have to upgrade to 3.5 and reinstall vBa then.

Your ahead of yourself, even the beta version is not out and coding vbacmps would not be done until final version. It probably would come out a little after vB 3.5 beta and get some testing done but the finish version is when u want to wait for unless u want to be a guinea pig and report the bugs they have. :)

I'm in the same situation and definately want to incorporate VBA and the gallery.

My skills are enough to do the job and get by but I am worried if the future upgrade path isn't simple with the new vb on the way.

My forum has quite a few mods already so would it be best to build my portal from scratch on the new vb when it comes out?

Would adding VBA now wipe out my mods and template changes anyway?

I have things like sigma, online visitors today, custom postbits and forum info columns removed and placed under forum name etc.

Upgrading to the 3.5 version of vBa products should be very simple once they are ready and just a matter of uploading new files and then running an upgrade file to make any necessary database changes.
