So heres the story.

Ive been asked by some major club owners in England to develop a site that focuses on their clubs. These guys own the monopoly in the city and there is the feeling that although there are sites that focus on different things. there isnt one that is updated regularaly. with news, events, interviews, gallery etc. So thats why im here.

I think ive bitten off more than i can chew actually as im here blind.

Ive installed the basics (VB & VBA) to the letter.. thats not the problem here. Ive set up a number of forums such as

I have added Geek Articles to VB and have set the following categories up in an "articles" forum

Interviews,
Reviews,
Gossip,
Important announcements.

Now ive added the latest geek articles hack that enables me to display these on the VBA. But it doesnt work. Well i think it doesnt work

What ive noticed about some of these hacks is i think the developers have written them for people who know their way around. not for people who are still in the shallow end of the pool.

Can anyone give me some advice on what modules to use that will shop up a smart random article system on the front end. but can also be linked up with the page navigation area. so it will show up the above forums as seperate entities.

thanks guys.

Liam

Look how this site is setup & then then go around and do a google search on cmps sites then do a search on clubs, vj, music & u can pull things together.
U might need to know how to add video/music clips for club atmosphere.

was looking at a download system for people to upload/download their own remixes. and everyone else to download them then rate them. Obviously we'd need to keep a carefull eye on whats being uploaded due to copyright laws.

but majority of tunage will be subject to a seperate radio software. One of the features of the site will be the facility to subscribe to live audio/video from the featured clubs on partcular nights. That aspect will be ran by a 3rd party streaming comapny. with cusomised CSS like our site. so it looks the same. The actual button to launch this software will be in the permissions so only people who have subscribed to the service will be able to get in. The company already have a vbulletin integration for this. but at £400 a month. it doesnt come cheap.. But our users will be able to listen to 128kbs music at the least. Direct Live from the clubs with small adverts for the club automatically in the scream.

also looking at 2 gallerys. one of which... Imagevue. which will showcase the best the club has to offer. and also 4 images or coppermine. which will allow users the usual stuff.

 £400 a month for live Streaming video. Get a bunch of webcam hookedup in different areas of the club. That is like $960 to $1000 cdn. u can save or $800 us.

but this will be totally live. not through little webcams.. but a 300k video stream up to 500 people at least.

So that price in england is believe it or not.. actually cheap considering what some are charging

But then again im not paying it either. The clubs are. ones that can get 1500 people in paying £12 entry then paying near on 50 bucks for a nights drinking. so thats in one night. 4 nights a week. imagine the turnover in a month.. so it looks pretty small looking at it that way.

Ill be just managing it. building the encoding servers on dedicated ISDN lines to the company.

but anyway.. back to topic.

any more ideas of any mods that would be handy

then again... ive just come across vbportal.....
