Add the news icon hack!!

Basically allows the community to post with a specific "news" icon then it gets flagged and posted on the "news" module.

The way it is right now the admins would have to sort through every post and do it manually.

I think Brian is moving AWAY from having to modify vBulletin files for his products. Maybe with 3.50 he can make it happen without any modifications... Who knows.

If you only have a few news forums, you can do it in the templates. Only took a minute to do at my site.

Won't work for my forums. I have a fishing reports forum where we get 15-20 reports a day from differant areas around the world. Many of the reports do not contain pictures. We want only the threads with pictures on the front page (which make my cmps look great to an outsider) therefore we choose which reports go on the front page news. Too much of a PITA to copy every thread we want in to a news forum to display on the front page... I'll even pay for someone to make this hack for 2.0/3.5.0 vb...

I agree... having dozen different forums and trying to post news from topics in each one of them was a breeze with that old hack... WE NEED UPDATE!!!

I noticed this modification yesterday... Looks very useful I must admit, as I too am getting a bit fed up of cloning threads and splitting the discussion between the original forum and the homepage. Would be cool if it became a stock feature. :)
