It's cmps_index.php, until you rename it.

so where it is set up like www.localhost.com/cmps_index.php i should change that to www.mysite.com/forums ?
i am very very new to all this, i was using vbportal, but i have heard this is a good program to use.
oh, and thanks for the quick response conqsoft....................hotwheels

Normally you would leave it in the root of your site, and leave it named cmps_index.php until you get it configured/working like you want. Then remove your old index.php and rename cmps_index.php to index.php and it becomes your "main" page.
Like: http://www.fireblades.org/
And my forum is at http://www.fireblades.org/forums/

i guess i am pretty confused..........when i got vbulletin and installed it, all i had to do was make some changed in the admin panel..........i guess i thought this would be the same...........

guess i am just a little disappointed. I made some assumption's that i probably shouldn't have.
I had no idea how to install the program, so i paid to get it install into my server directories. I guess i assumed that once the install was complete, i would go to my site and there would be a portal, and all i would have to do is add or remove stuff i didn't need. I have absolutely no idea how to get the portal page to appear, i guess if i did, i wouldn't have needed to pay to have the actual file installed on my server's directories.....
Now that it's installed, i thought maybe there would be some sort of step by step how to in order to get the portal page to show.........
I used to use phportal's and had them install the set up, which was a pretty kewl set up, but i bought the vbgallery's day before yesterday and tried to install the program. I ended up shutting down my entire site and i lost all of my server directories........I spent over 12hrs yesterday just trying to get my vbulletin back up. Not quite sure how i got it running again, but it is up.
Anyways, i guess just having a forum's page is gonna have to work till i can figure out how to work with php or what ever this vba program is. I asked question's about it over at vbulletin and no one will help there cause it's not their hack.
thanks, hotwheels

Did you look through the manual (http://www.vbadvanced.com/membersarea.php?do=viewusermanual&productid=4)? I know you found it, but it's still relevant even if it's for an older version.
Don't give up on it so quickly. I think that once you familiarize yourself with it, you'll come to love it. Poke around in the forums and look what other people are doing and how they're doing it. Use the search feature a lot.
You might consider installing a web server on your home computer so that you can test stuff without making a mess of your live site. There's plenty of scripts that will do the AMP (apache MySql and PhP) install for you. I used one called WAMP (http://www.wampserver.com/en/index.php) and it works fabulously. You can turn it on when you wanna mess with something and just browse to localhost then turn it off when you're done.
Just a suggestion cuz I've been where you are and now you couldn't take my vba or gallery without a fight. ;)
Hope you don't mind my input there. :o

When we do an install we always leave the main script named cmps_index.php. This gives the webmaster a chance to get things set up the way they would like before their users will see the script. Getting the file to show up as the first thing your users see when they visit the site is just a matter of renaming the cmps_index.php file to index.php once you have it looking the way you would like.

Your portal looks good at the moment
http://www.insanemustangs.com/cmps_index.php
Like the others have said, you need to rename the file to index.php, but, I notice right now, when you hit the domain name
http://www.insanemustangs.com/ it does an auto-redirect to your forums.
http://www.insanemustangs.com/forums
That re-direct will have to be removed.
If you want some help, send me a PM with your site specs, admin username and password as well as ftp info and username and password.
but, you need to go into your cpanel and remove that redirect, You dont want to give that info out ;) if you dont know how or dont have a cpanel, you'll need to get in contact with your provider.

A quick suggestion would be to write up a one page post-installation note to send to customers you have installed this for. Also send them the 'manual' just-in-case... remember that in most cases, the people that pay for installation services are probably not too web-saavy.
Cheers,
~Regs.
