vBadvanced Links Directory 1.0.1 has just been released and is available to license holders in the Members' Area here. This includes both versions for vBulletin 3.0.X and vBulletin 3.5. While this version is mostly a maintenance release to fix currently known bugs, there are also a few other changes outlined below.
Permissions system updated to be more independent from vBulletin and require 3 less file changes to 2 of your vB files during the initial installation.
New separate Admin and Mod CP so that it is no longer necessary to modify your vBulletin files to add these.
vBadvanced Global Replacement options will now affect the links directory as well.
All currently known bugs have been fixed.
General coding clean up.
Upgrade instructions may be found at the bottom of the readme file included with the zip package.

There's the demo where you can try things out. It does allow your users to rate links and includes a What's Popular section, but I'm not sure if you could consider it a toplist.

Sounds like you either hit the button twice, or you already have a column named links_ugroups (though I don't see why you would). Did the version number in your footer get updated?

Same here; I was planning on upgrading, and when I pointed my browser over to the vba_links.php install file, I got this message:
Parse error: parse error, expecting `')'' in /home/httpd/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/forums/admincp/vbalinks_install.php on line 3547
did u make sure u downloaded the 3.5 one with ur 3.5 board and not the other way around?

I'm not sure if my FTP program had a problem when I was transferring the files or what. I've just updated the install file though and that should solve the parse error.

That solved the problem Brian, thanks .. all works well now on 3.5.0 RC1

Great - it installed/upgraded, but now, when I look inside a directory, I get this error:
Warning: Second argument to str_repeat() has to be greater than or equal to 0 in /includes/functions_links.php on line 505
... and again this on a fresh, brand new installation:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /includes/functions_links.php on line 629

Try saving your directory display order in the admin cp so that your cache will be updated and that should take care of the problem.

Doh, thanks for that, I forgot about renewal option. Sorted!
Any info on future direction/features of this great Links script?
I'd like to see ability to include thumbnail images and perhaps sponsored links that appear on the top of every category and allow more detailed link description to be displayed for those willing to pay and be prominently listed.

Work on 2.0 will begin soon. We don't really have a set feature list yet, but I can tell you that there will be a LOT of new stuff and almost an entire re-write of the code.
You have a bug in your code and it appears on your demo too. The navbar points to the wrong directory path:
e.g. http://www.vbadvanced.com/links/faq.php? instead of http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/faq.php?
How do you fix it?
Also when I click on most links I get this error
Warning: str_repeat(): Second argument has to be greater than or equal to 0. in /includes/functions_links.php on line 505

I will actually purchase a separate licence for another site I am working on and is based around vB 3.5. When upgrade arrives, I'll renew one for current site.
Off to a check-out!

Anyone have some ideas for me?
very cool! Now I need to start saving my returnables for cash :D
Bug I noticed- when you go to the links page and then click on "new posts" it takes you to a blank page:
http://www.vbadvanced.com/links/search.php?do=getnew
Oh well- hopefully by the time I have my pennies saved the bugs will be squashed

Edit one of your directories through the admin cp and save it so that the cache will be updated.

Thanks, that was helpful for some of the errors I got. But the path still seems to be an issue on all default installs. You still have the issue on your demo:
http://www.vbadvanced.com/links/
which also has an error btw,
"Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /includes/functions.php on line 1946"
1st time I've wanted to add a link and receive this error :-
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: fetch_phrase() in /usr/home/techguys/public_html/forum/links/addlink.php on line 65
Only occurs when I add comments :-
"Please enter a description for your website."
If I don't add a description :-
"A required field was missing. Please be sure you entered a title, URL, and description for your link."
Any update to solve this problem ?

I have just installed the links Directory. There may be a fix for this somewhere but when i try to add a new link I get the following message
Could not find phrase 'your_link_has_been_added'
Can anyone help please?
Gary Bolton

that phase should say - Your link has been successfully added to the database.
Try adding it to the links directory phases using.
phase title: your_link_has_been_added
phase text: Your link has been successfully added to the database.
See if that works, it's seems it wasn't added during the installtion for some reason.

The phrase is already there. It says it can not duplicate

I thought it sounded as though the phase was missing during the install.

what you can do is search for that phase in the installtion php file that comes with vBlinks that you place in the Admincp and do a search for it. Then you will see what it attemps to install. Maybe you can trace the error back by looking at that in the install file.
I know it there becuase I already found that phase in the install file to find out what the text was to be displayed for it

I don't suppose that this will run on it's own. I have a website that does not run a board and it would be nice to run the same links program as on the sites that I run a web board on.

ThanksCorrect, at this time a single entry can not be associated to multiple directories. Currently it would require a one-to-one entry (one entry for each category).

I hope a new version comes out soon. In another 4 months, it would be 2 years since the script was last updated.
