Doesn't sound correct. Can you describe how are you trying to import it.

I downloaded your attach file "upcomingevents.module" on my computer.
Then, Admin CP > Modules&products > Export&Import module > Import xml file from my computer (In this part, i found the file upcomingevents.module as download

Then IMPORT and..... "Error XML : Empty document line 1."

I'm actually in this case, not so far...

    Thank you for your attention

    That explains it.

Try using ACP -> vBa CMPS -> Download / Upload Module -> Upload Module and see if that works.

Make sure it is set to display on the default page.

If you are using a custom style make sure the templates were loaded to that style.

There are lots of other reasons it might not show but without a link to the page it makes it really hard
I've had a problem with this module on 2 occaisions, in two entirely different versions, years apart so that I was unable to remember how I solved it the first time. ((Also, I am reading this off of page one, but I am certain it stands to be repeated)).

If you've installed this module through the UCP and did not upload it manually to the FTP server, have the # of dates to "look into the future" seeking events determined, and well gosh, the module still isn't showing up, first press CTRL-ALT-DELETE, and 3 minutes from now, after your nerves chill from the frustration with figuring these modules out and you are focused with you anger square on me, head into the VBACMPS section of the control panel. Select EDIT PAGES. Choose the default page first, I only have one page, more than enough for my needs. And when you're in there, put a checkbox next to upcoming events. Save, and reload.

That's the same fix on both occasions for me more or less.

Thanks Tom for this AWESOME mod for the already AWESOME VBACMPS. Yes, that is something dark colored hanging on my nose.

    oups!
    I was so tired yesterday....

Well I uploaded on my website and did good update but....

On my forum, the upcoming event is ok and we can see actually 3 upcoming events.

On my CMPS homepage, the module is there (on your right) but the events are not displayed!

    others information to you:
    > the module is Active and enabled to display on the page
    > There are events to display
    > The number of days to display is correct in both spots (30)
    > The "public" calendar is selected
    > Module is marked as Active in the module AND marked to show for each page they are to appear on.
    > the correct permissions set are ok
    > I use a custom style for my CMPS homepage - But I tried to use the default style (as you can see on my forum) but the result is the same
    > the module & templates are installed on my default & custom style

Hope to have explain the best I do.

    Thanks

    Thanks for so much info.

As a Guest user I don't see events on the FORUMHOME page.

    Do you have multiple calendars?

How about permissions for users to see events?

    Tom, that's perfect!
I just test now and events are online on my cmps homepage.
It was just due to permissions about Guest user (I was not logged and I see them)

Sincerely thank you for your attention Tom and your time to help us.

    Best regards from France.

First off I want to say thanks for this great module!

I would like to move the event date to the right of the event title. I looked in the templates but don't see how to do this. I see it calls $upcomingevents but how do I edit that?

    Regards,

    Andy

Actually, the date is supposed to be on a separate line so I'm not sure what's going on in your specific situation. In any event, the template that controls that is adv_portal_todaysevents.

I'll be happy to take a look if you can provide a link.

If it's marked Active and set to show but nothing appears then make sure the templates are defined in the style that's being used. Also, make sure the events show up on the FORUMHOME page (which they do) and that the number of days to show as defined in the module covers whatever events are defined.

From looking at the site I'm guessing either the module hasn't been set to display on the page or the templates are missing from the style. If it's the latter just copy them from whatever style they got loaded to.

Ok thanks Tom. I saw you reply to a similar post with the same response but when i looked at my inherited styles they are showing the events templates in Yellow, does that mean they are to be copied across? I only have the events templates in red on my default style but the site uses a child style. I guess the child style needs to have those templates manually assigned to it. I'll let you know how I get one.

    Thanks!

As long as the templates are listed in the style you should be OK as far as that goes.

If you've never installed a module before it can be a little confusing...

You don't need to manually copy the php file to the modules directory as it gets placed there automatically when you install the module. After downloading the module file in the first post to your computer you can then use the ACP and the CMPS module installation capability to create the actual module, templates and other files that are used. After the module is created you simple need to configure it the way you want it to behave.

If you have done the installation correctly and things still don't show up then either the module isn't marked 'Active' (via Edit Module) or the module isn't set to show on the page (via Edit Page). If those are OK then it is likely that the number of days is incorrect in either the module or you are using the default value vb defines for the FORUMHOME page - which is 1 day.

If you've read the rest of the thread and still need help feel free to ask.
