Yes, but only if you do your homework and find the website.

    Hope that helps.

    ofcourse mate,i'll have a scout around. Thanks for helping.

    The accuweather will actually work, the sky.com won't.

    Here's the thing about the accuweather module. Instead of users putting in their ZIP code, they can enter the city and country they live in, for example "London, UK" or "Berlin, Germany". All you have to do is make the custom user profile field large enough for them to fit the info. So instead of 5 (as I had it set for 5 digit zip code in step 1 of the instructions) set it to 30 or even more, up to you. Accuweather will work with major cities. You will also need to change the wording of a few thing, for example instead of "Enter your ZIP" put "Enter the city and country separated by coma ...." you get the idea, totally up to you.

    Hope that helps.

    Can you be more specific? Also, please post your version of the template.

    here's my code

    Code:
    <tr>
    <td class="alt2" align="center">
    <if condition="$bbuserinfo[FIELD9] == '' ">
    Weather information for London, UK:<br>
    <script src="http://netwx.accuweather.com/netweatherV2.asp?zipcode=London, UK&lang=eng&size=5&metric=0"></script><br><br>
    <if condition="$bbuserinfo[userid] > '0' ">

    <br>
    Every time you come back to our website your local weather will be displayed.
    </if>
    <else />
    <script src="http://netwx.accuweather.com/netweatherV2.asp?City & Country=$bbuserinfo[FIELD9]&lang=eng&size=5&metric=0"></script>

    I'm not sure I understand your problem correctly, but I see 2 things not quite right with your code.

    1. Try replaceing "London, UK" with "London,UK" or "London,%20UK" to eliminate the space between coma and UK.

    2. 4th line from the bottom that starts with <script ... ->replace it with this:

    Code:
    <script src="http://netwx.accuweather.com/netweatherV2.asp?zipcode=$bbuserinfo[FIELD9]&lang=eng&size=5&metric=0"></script>

    Let me know if anything has changed and we'll go from there. If the problem remains, make sure to post your latest version of the code again.

    ok mate,everytime i try and put a different location in my profile i get this message.

    "You did not enter the correct format for the City & Country field. Please read the field description for the expected format."

    I changed the desciption which stopped me getting that message but it doesnt change the weather it still shows my default weather.

    here's my code again

    Code:
    <tr>
    <td class="alt2" align="center">
    <if condition="$bbuserinfo[FIELD9] == '' ">

    1. Go to your admin panel and edit the profile user field, remove the "[0-9]" from Regular expression, that will stop limiting you as far as putting in your city/country. While you're there check that the Max length and Display size are sufficient to enter even some long city and country names.

    2. Use this code in your template:

    Code:
    <tr>
    <td class="alt2" align="center">
    <if condition="$bbuserinfo[FIELD9] == '' ">
    Weather information for London,UK:<br>
    <script src="http://netwx.accuweather.com/netweatherV2.asp?zipcode=London,UK&lang=eng&size=5&metric=0"></script><br><br>

    </if>
    </td>
    </tr>
    By the way, what is your website URL?

    At first I thought this might be a useful item, but Accuweather's service is very very slow to respond. It times out very often.

    Never had a problem with loading the info from them. Loads in under 1 second for me. Could be a isolated problem for you and your internet connection.

    Do you know of any other providers I could use?

    OK, I installed this custom international weather on my test server just to mess around with it, and it works just fine for me. You can see it for yourself here: http://vb.moskaliev.info/forum/. You're welcome to register there and test it.

    My default weather is set to London, UK. Location in my user account is Berlin, Germany, and it works flawlessly when I log in and out.

    One thing I suggest you do, Lombardo, is make the words FIELD5 in your code lowercase (field5). On some servers it matters, yours may be one of them.

    Also, what board version are you running? I wrote this originally for 3.5, my test board is 3.6 and it works on both. I bet the problem is in the upper/lower case.

    Let me know and post your template again if you still have a trouble.

    Default Strange difference between Firefox & IE

    Hi folks,

    I created a module for this and it appeared to work fine under Firefox. The HTML for my CMPS page includes this:

    Code:
    <script src="http://netwx.accuweather.com/netweatherV2.asp?zipcode=90024&lang=eng&size=5&metric=0"></script>
    Then I noticed that viewing the same page with IE had a different location. I viewed the HTML and saw that the zipcode doesn't show up, thus:

    Code:
    <script src="http://netwx.accuweather.com/netweatherV2.asp?zipcode=&lang=eng&size=5&metric=0"></script>
    Has anyone else seen anything like this?

    Thumbs up Re: Local weather

    Working perfectly on my 3.6.8 patch level 2 forum! I am new to vBadvanced and this was my first module to install/add - such a breeze with your wonderful step-by-step instructions! I wish all modules were so clearly explained! Thanks for the fun add-on for my members!

    You are welcome! And thank you for your feedback. I'm glad it's working for you and I hope there's more users out there that have found this little tool helpful.

    Thanks!

    Installed on 3.6.8 patch level 2 as well. Looks like the 'default' piece worked, but even after the profile is updated with the local zip, it shows the Orlando, FL 'default' option.

    Quick question....how can you place two 'default' locations? My site is a Walt Disney related forum and I'd like for Orlando, FL AND Anaheim, CA to be default locations. Is that possible?
