Default Customize This Page - Constant Javascript Alert

Nicely done Brian. Is it normal to get an alert at every drag n drop:
One or more required modules were not found to be active on this page. These modules have been added to the bottom of center column

No, that certainly should not happen every time. There's a sanity check in the new "AJAX Save Page Layout" plugin that checks to make sure all of the active modules on the default layout are also active on the custom layout, mostly to make sure people aren't submitting false data and that all active modules remain active.
That said, do you have any unusual modules or anything you're aware of that might be problematic? There's not much I can think of off the top of my head that would/could cause an issue like that, but if the problem persists and you'd like to submit a support ticket I'll be glad to take a look and see what's going on.

Actually that was a new install on a new site with the supplied modules only. I'll put a support ticket

For anyone else that may be having this issue, it looks like there was a small problem with the News/News Archive modules that could occur if one of them does not have any content but are active on the page. The fix has been applied to the forum/modules/news.php file in the download package here, so if you will download the files again and update that one on your server, that should take care of the issue.
