Default Limit Categories Dropdown to 2

When adding a link on the first step, I want that subcategories will not appear in the category selection. What I want is only:

    Top Level
    ---Category A
    ---Category B
    ---Category C
    Top Level 2
    ---Category D
    ---Category E

    How can this be done?

I could use this as well, hope it is possible and Brian can suggest. Following this.

OxyFuse, please notice that the current sub-category, fx C-1 is automatically suggested when you submit links on category C-1. Should C be shown in this case?

EDIT: I have found a solution for me. Setting "Category is Open For Links" = NO for sub-categories should give the category selection in post above for sub-categories for ordinary users and full list for admins.

Thanks for the response HenrikHansen but it's not what I want.

I just want that subcategories will not appear in the category selection on the first step only (where you provide the URL) but I want users to be able to choose additional categories and/or subcategories on second and final step (where you enter details).

If I set "Category is Open For Links" = NO, then users will not be able to choose additional subcategories on on second and final step.

Hi OxyFuse, I see you point. I suggested something similar in 2007,

but unfortunately a solution has not been developed, but I will will surely follow
if it can be made. Good luck
