    Default Search Engine Friendly URL Issue w/ News

    Brian or others,
    On my homepage ( when you click on the title of a news item, it takes you to a non-search engine friendly URL. However, I have VB 4.0 set to advanced search engine friendly URL's so when I go to and there is a list of posts, the URL is a friendly one.

    So for example:

    Clicking on the post on the homepage (through Vbadvanecd) sends me to:

    PHP Code:

    However, going to the forum homepage then clicking that post sends me to:

    PHP Code:

    It may sound like a stupid thing but a SEO company I am working with says it is effecting my google rankings. Any idea how to fix this issue?

    Thank you for pointing this out. I've just applied the fix to the modules/news.php file in the download package here, so if you will download the files again and update that one on your server, that should take care of the issue.
    Or if you would rather apply the fix manually, just look in the file for this code:
    PHP Code:
    $mods['title'] = ($news['prefix'] ? $news['prefix'] : '') . ' <a href="' $vbulletin->options['bburl'] . '/showthread.php?' $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl'] . 't=' $news['threadid'] . '">' $news['title'] . '</a>'
    And replace with this:
    PHP Code:
    $mods['title'] = ($news['prefix'] ? $news['prefix'] : '') . ' <a href="' $vbulletin->options['bburl'] . '/' fetch_seo_url('thread'$news) . '">' $news['title'] . '</a>'
