    Default Integration issue for users on IE6 & 7

    This is a strange issue. Some users are telling me that their display is all stuffed up on some of the pages of my site. I find that if I remove the integration on those pages everything is ok. The only common denominator I can find is that they are using either IE v6 or v7.

    This is what they are seeing:
    1. Replying to a thread - the reply box is to the right of the screen so the user has to scroll across to find it...scroll further again to see the CMPS right column that has been integrated with the page:
    Attachment 5944

    2. This is the New Posts page...I think it explains itself
    Attachment 5945

    The right column (as seen in screen shot 2 above) contains just images but if I remove it (i.e. remove the integration) both problems are fixed and the pages are displayed as they should.

    My adv_portal template contains 2 extra columns that are used in other areas of the site and is:
    Code:
    {vb:stylevar htmldoctype}
    <html dir="{vb:stylevar textdirection}" lang="{vb:stylevar languagecode}" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>

    {vb:raw headinclude}

    <vb:if condition="$pages['name'] == 'home'">
        <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache" />
        <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache" />
        <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="0" />
    </vb:if>

    <title>{vb:raw vboptions.hometitle} <vb:if condition="$pagetitle">- {vb:raw pagetitle}</vb:if></title>

    {vb:raw headinclude_bottom}

    </head>
    <body>

    {vb:raw header}

    {vb:raw navbar}

    <vb:if condition="$show['customizepagelink']">

    </vb:if>

    <table align="center" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%">
        <tr valign="top">

            </vb:if>

    <!-- IB added right center column -->
            <vb:if condition="$show['right_center_column']">

                    {vb:raw home.right_centerblocks}
                </td>
            </vb:if>
    <!-- end IB added right center column -->

            <vb:if condition="$show['right_column']">
                <td valign="top" width="{vb:raw vba_style.portal_rightcolwidth}"<vb:if condition="$show['center_column'] OR $show['left_column']"> style="padding-{vb:stylevar left}: {vb:raw vba_style.portal_colspacing}px"</vb:if>>
                    {vb:raw home.rightblocks}
                </td>
            </vb:if>
        </tr>
    </table>

    {vb:raw footer}

    </body>
    </html>
    The right column that is in the integration just contains one template module with the template being:
    Code:
    <div style="padding-bottom:6px;">
        <a target="_blank" href="http://www.Survival-Kits.com.au"><img src="../advertise/survival.jpg" alt="The Survival Center" /></a>
    </div>

    <div style="padding-bottom:6px;">
        <a target="_blank" href="http://www.skyranger.com.au/"><img src="../advertise/best_aircraft.jpg" alt="Best of aircraft" /></a>
    </div>

    <div style="padding-bottom:6px;">
        <a target="_blank" href="http://www.morganaeroworks.com.au/"><img src="../advertise/morgan.jpg" alt="Morgan Aeroworks" /></a>
    </div>

    <div style="padding-bottom:6px;">
        <a target="_blank" href="http://www.clearprop.com.au/"><img src="../advertise/clearprop.jpg" alt="Clear Prop" /></a>
    </div>

    <div style="padding-bottom:6px;">
        <a href="../pages/advertising.php"><img src="../advertise/advertise_here.jpg" alt="Advertise Here" /></a>
    </div>

    <div style="padding-bottom:6px;">
        <a target="_blank" href="http://www.raa.asn.au/operations/memberprof.html"><img src="../advertise/raalogo.gif" alt="Recreational Aviation Australia" /></a>
    </div>

    <br />
    I don't see anything wrong with the adv_portal or the module templates so I am lost as to what may be causing this...unfortunately I use IE 8 and Firefox which don't have these issues so any help is appreciated.

    Thank you for pointing this out. I've done some testing locally and was able to narrow the issue down to the way vB handles their CSS for 2 different minor things on each page.
    I've just made some changes to the includes/vba_cmps_include_bottom.php file and the 'adv_portal.css' template in the download package here to correct this. If you will download the files from here again, upload the inlcudes/vba_cmps_include_bottom.php and admincp/vbacmps_install.php files to your server, and then go to the admincp/vbacmps_install.php file in your browser and select the option to reinstall the templates, then that should take care of the issue.

    I have tried this but it has made no difference. Do I need to upload the 'adv_portal.css' file as well? How do I do that?

    and then go to the admincp/vbacmps_install.php file in your browser and select the option to reinstall the templates
    That will reinstall the templates, including adv_portal.css.

    Well unfortunately it doesn't work for my users. Is there something else I should be doing?

    I checked your source code and the adv_portal.css template seems to have been updated fine, so I'd suggest deleting the current includes/vba_cmps_include_bottom.php file from your server and then upload the new copy of that file from the download package here just to make sure the file was overwritten.

    This fix worked in the forums but with private message integration users are still reporting that they have to scroll 2 feet to the right to hit the reply button.

    update: must have something messed up, fix didn't work on the forums. It only works when i remove integration.

    I have a couple of users also saying that the fix works spasmodically so it seems there is another element to what is causing the issue...sorry Brian, I know these must be the worst kind of issues to fix...all caused by the ridiculous vb4

    If you have the version of windows 7 that lets you do the virtual pc xp mode then get it. I think it comes with ie 6, make a backup of xp mode files, install ie 7. you can see first hand how bad integration looks with vb4 on ie7.

    I tried his fix above, rebuilding the templates with the latest vbadvanced zip file and nothing, still broke on ie 7.

    For the members that it's working sporadically for... Are they seeing the same page fine one minute and then seeing the issues another, or are they seeing the issue fixed on one page but not another?

    Hi Brian,

    I also have some integration issues. As far as I know this only manifests when users use IE7. When people try to reply to a thread, the page gets a huge width. The WYSIWYG editor is shown in the middle of this huge empty page. Header shows correctly, footer shows correctly, recentthreads-module is smaller then normal, only the "middle block" of the page becomes huge. Also, when people want to use the quickreply, the quickreply box gets a huge width. When I remove the integration or disable vBa, all works fine.

    I don't know if this also is an issue when replying to a PM, because I haven't integrated that page.

    I added some screenshots. I don't know if this is related to the other problems in this thread, but it looked like this was the right place to post this.

    EDIT: By the way, I have a two-column layout. I don't use modules on the right side of the page.
    EDIT2: I've already tried the fix you suggested in this thread, but with no result unfortunately.

    Greetings,
    Ezra

    PS: Members confirmed to me that all is working fine with other browsers like Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox (haven't confirmed whether it happens with IE6 or IE8).

    Ezra - Would you mind submitting a support ticket via the Members' Area here so I can take a look at things? Things are working fine for me locally with the fix posted above, so I'm not really sure what to suggest without being able to see things myself.

    Sorry I forogt to update the thread here...

    I've been looking into this and narrowed the newreply.php page down to an issue that can occur if [quote], [php], [code], or other such tags are used within one of the "preview" posts below the reply box. Something within vBulletin's CSS is really throwing things off, but unfortunately I'm not sure if there's going to be a good way to fix it other than not integrating those two files with the CMPS.
