clean news block ?

right - Ive seen all the options for switching off various things in the news blocks, but Im still left with the reply button, an ugly 'by - username' bar at the top of the news item.

Out of desperation Ive removed the code in the news template to get rid of them elements, yet Im left with a tiny line at the top (where the by- username thing used to be) , and a similar yet more ugly black block where the buttons used to be at the bottom of the news item ?

is there an easier way of having a cleaner news posting module than hacking up code?

am I missing some obvious option to switch of the 'by- username' and 'reply' buttons ?

If you don't like the way things are displayed then modifying the template is going to be your best bet.

so you saying that there aint a 'setting' to switch off the reply button on the news item modules?

I could fiddle about and sort it obviously and looks like I will, just seemed odd that you can pretty much switch everything else off except this...perhaps put this down as a suggestion for a future update?
